i'm new. And i could't find a thread like this anywhere, so i startet my own. Sorry if there are a thread, simmilar to this one.

I'm going to drive the 24 hours Le Mans, on the new Le Mans track. I don't know what car i should i use, and what setting i should use, to keep the tyres alive for more than three laps. I've been thinking of the Audi R8 since we all know how that car is on the real Le Mans. But i can't keep the tyres alive. They are red after two-three laps. Once i made a setteup for the car, where it could drive five laps without pit wntry. But the susspension was very soft, on that setting, so the car was undriverble even with green tyres.

Need advice, Thanks :) And sorry if this thread has been up 100 times before.

I don't think this exact thread has been up very often... Please don't tell me you're running R3 tyres, because I can't think of any driving style that could eat R1/R2s in three laps of the Sarthe Circuit! Let me know.

I have tested it some times with Racing Medium, and Racing Hard. They don't keep grib for longer than 3-4 laps. I've heard many times that people can get 8-10 laps out of their tyres. Mabye it's the Audi there don't work for 24 Hours Le Mans (Even though its the best car, in automotive history, in that race. In real life.)
What car, and what settup should i use, to keep tyres for 10 laps on Circiut de La Sarthe I?

Mabye its just me. I find the car undriverble when the tyres turns a bit more than orange. I had allways been wondering why i only could keep up for 4 laps when the other cars could drive 20.

Anyways In real life you get fuel 3-4 times before you change tyres. I change tyres 3-4 times before i get fuel. Its weird when it should be a driving simulator.

OK... I would recommend for this car R1s on the rear and R2s on the front and keep off the grass because that eats tyres. Brake earlier and slightly more gently, taking corners a tiny bit slower, to conserve tyres further. If you have a turbo on this car, TAKE IT OFF.

By the way, nobody can do 20 laps :p usually the AI gets seven or eight depending on car and driver profile.

The R8 has a V8 Bi-Turbo as standard :nervous: What do i do?
Mabye i should buy a Pescarolo istead. It have a N/A Judd engine.

If i should keep of the grass, what about the curbs then? I allways use curbs, i can't imagine a race where i don't use them. But i think that a curb is harder for the tires than grass.

No no, he meant any extra turbos you have fitted (Stage 4 or so). The Pescarolo is a good car but if you have the Audi, use the Audi. The difference is very small.

Ok. But i've read that the Pecscarolo keeps it's tires for longer time, because of a sandard setup. How can i setup the Audi if i wanna keep the tires going?

The R8 should be far to good. But what setup can make it keep its own tires alive!? :scared: Mabye i should just stop using the curbs, and braking, at the way i do 💡

I just realized this hasn't been said before... if you are a good driver, you can be so much faster than the AI cars that you can pit every three or four laps and still win. That Audi has far superior handling characteristics when compared to any Group C cars so you'll leave them eating dust in the technical section.

In short: R2/R1 tires and believe in yourself!

 Greycap too true. Self-belief, then even if you lose you'll have had a good time of it :p

The R8 should indeed be far too good to be touched, but Sony sponsor the Pescarolo, and as Henri Pescarolo hates the Audis Polyphony handicapped them slightly. They should make the Pescos eat dust, but they don't. Great picture, by the way 👍 (By the way, is that the original Audi R8 there? It looks like the 2000 model...)

The Pescarolo's tyre wear is nothing to do with settings, it is simply gifted with good tyre endurance by (the very biased) Polyphony. But, most people can still make the R8 live for much longer than you're getting... I think the only way we can improve on this is for you to link to a lap replay or something if you really desperately need help.

But i have to go B-Spec when i have to sleep. I don't trust my B-spec co-driver after he was about to lose it all in the 24 hours Nürburgring. My car was like 5 times better than the AI, but the B-Spec used like a half our on each 4th lap, because he didn't go in pit in right time.
Hmm i'm gonna try anyways 👍

Super Hard at the rear. and Hard at the front tires?

*EDIT* It's the Circuite de La Sarthe II, where i win the Bentley EXP Speed 8 right?

*EDIT AGAIN* Allright. I've tested it with R1 tyres on all wheels. They can keep for about 4-5 laps. :scared: It's mabye my agressive driving style, or the biturbo. Can it be something about the springs, dambars, or the downforce? Can i make a setup, with these things to improve the lifetime of the tires?

Again, the R1/R2 setup really should hold for six laps... It's not the turbochargers that are already in the big V8 that's doing it, because I can get my R8 to last six laps with a Stage 3 turbo upgrade... It has to be your driving style, unless anyone else has any ideas?

Mabye i am misunderstanding sometihg. I put the R2 on the frontwheels and the R1 on the back. The rearwheels is getting more tread than the frontwheels.
I drive with ASM off in Oversteering and Understeering. And i have 5 in Traction Control. (I have allso tryed to have all of the aids as it was as standard.)

Does the curbs tread the tires? I use the curbs as much as possible. Its a important thing in my tire-eating agressive drivingstyle.

Thanks! 👍 But the R4 tires isn't a good option in 24 hours race, is it?
Anyways i'm gonna try it out :)

Look that what goes red faster and if its rear Vs front, harden the rear a knotch

I like them to get orange and red together, it always works best for prolonging a tire change.

Also reductions to Downforce will result in longer tire life. Knocking a few clicks where your loosing most tead will help quite a bit.

It says in the dealer's that it has 599 bhp or something like that and now you're having over 800 bhp?

That's correct, they lied to you at the car dealer's. :)

Those settings look reliable for the most part Rac3rX, but they may bite you from time to time by the looks of them! Oh well that makes it interesting

Greycap, you could not be more right. Many people buy the Pecarolo 2004 because it's a LMP-900 class car with less than 600bhp, what more could you want? Turns out Henri Pescarolo lied, it has over 800bhp! Audi did the same, and I think Bentley did too... Madness. All the manufacturer readouts are a few bhp and lb/ft off reality, but this is madness :p
