Learning How to Tune

Hey, my id is adrnv and I honestly don't know how to tune. The description for each part of the suspension settings and LSD really confuses me, but I understand the transmission and downforce stuff...sort of.... Anyway, I use a Logitech Driving Force Wireless wheel and I recently use BMW Z4 M Coupe. I like the fastback design of it. I just want to be able to go faster around turns. Controlling speed isn't a problem, I just feel like I can make it go faster. I try to use just shifting, braking, and throttling around without the e-brake. Maybe you've seen me around, maybe not, just want to know what increasing spring rate and shocks do, anti body roll, especially the toe and camber angle. Thanks.

OP .. IMO go get in a Yellow Bird Standard... And try and get that drifting.. After 4 months at it you will soon begin to see that its almost impossible...

Next after much tweaking you jump in an AE86.... And your an instant master..

Put in the hours and it will pay off... Start difficult and learn the hard way..

Only way mate ;)

Next after much tweaking you jump in an AE86.... And your an instant master..

Why the yellow bird? Why not the staple RWD cars?
 
@nk4e IMO the RUF Yellow Bird its one of the more difficult cars... The op could pick any beast car the YB was an example ! ;)

@JustDrift893 your suggestion of the 240sx or something ?Well as above to you too mate same reasoning.. The 240 is too easy imo again choose a beast of a car thats HARD to handle...

This aint rocket science ;) No pain less to gain... Like I said in my OP..
 
Though there are many ways to "learn" how to tune then there are ways "how " to drift. People will state : "take a RWD car, plug and play" or "This guide has helped me"

I started by just changing the camber depending on the BHP of the car. After a while I started tweaking other things and some of the changes didn't work while others did.

Just remember, only change one thing at at time then you know whether that change makes it better or worse.

The Yellow Bird is RR, so it is completely different than drifting a FR car. I started learning with a 180SX and found it was a nice car to start drifting with as it was easy to control and setup.

I'm guessing you use a DS3? So it probably is easier to drift a RR car then switch to a FR car than it is to do the same with a wheel.

Personally I would agree with nk4e and start with a FR car that I'm confident to drift.

Ok thanks, I read the tuning guides and started tweaking my Sileighty. It's the first car I drifted when it was stock. When I bought all the parts for it, i just left it as is. For some reason I can't get my under 1'10" times on Tsukuba just like how I did months ago. It used to be so easy to drive the car, but now it seems like I can't get it to go as fast. There was too much oversteer so I set up a stiff front spring and shock, and a softer rear while lowering the ride height.
