Just wondering how many laps you get on a set of tires before you have to pit. Also RS/RM/RH and what kind of car you're using.

787B stock, RS can go 4 laps with them. 3:30ish, 3:28 was my best, dry track, no AID's. Made the mistake of going around the 5th time once, turned into an 8 minute lap... Still have to try the RM/RH.

You can squeeze out 8 laps on full hards, but you can do 7 with mediums up front and hards on rear.

Depends on what you want. Time on the track, or faster lap times?

8 laps, wow. Gonna have to try that, didn't think it was that big of a difference.

On a side note, anybody know how often drivers are changed in a 24HR race? Laps/hours or what they go by.

Thanks

In the 787B never shift into 2nd as you always generate wheelspin. It's slower in ultimate lap time but this is an endurance race, not a sprint so saving your tyres and making less stops is quicker overall.

History bit...
Pierre Levegh and Eddie Hall attempted to run the race solo, hoping to save time by not having to change drivers. This practice was later banned. Until the 1980s, there were teams in which only two drivers competed, but by the end of the decade the rules were changed to stipulate that at least three drivers must drive each car.

Modern bit
By the 1990s, due to the speeds of the cars and the strain it put on drivers, further rules were added to improve driver safety. Drivers could not drive more than four hours consecutively, and no one driver could run for more than fourteen hours in total. This reduced driver fatigue during the races.

I saw a you tube clip of the Audi vs Peugeot race where Audi had to quadraple stint the drivers to save time not having to change drivers...

Was the race Allan McNish won his second LeMans... (Sorry for that spoiler) - Jason Statham narrated it bit of an Audi commercial but very good watch...

I think GT5's tyres have much shorter life spans than the ones you get in real life.

5 laps on RH in the 01 Audi R8 bone stock, lot less than i was expecting. Lap times are between 3:27 - 3:34. Now when the track was wet i was running out of gas before tires went down. Used RH till track was 75% wet.

On the old "Le Mans 24 hours" for PS2 you could double stint the hard tires to save time in the pit. Made strategy more important. GT5 Le Mans you can run half a tank of gas because your tires will never make it.
