Hi guys lbsf1 here with an idea.

The most users ever online was 7,575 on Nov 19 2007 at 8:32 PM. This is nearly 3 years ago!!! That is too long. At 8PM GMT 30th October 2010 I want to try to get as many users online on that day to try to beat the previous record. Who wants to join me?? Use this converter to work out what that time would be in your country.

Spread the word, put a link in your sig and together we can beat it.

Lets not.

This has been bought up before and ended in a lock.

Sorry I didn't know ( I havent been around here that long compared to loads of you guys), I don't see why its a bad idea though, I think it could be a good bit of harmless fun and converation aslong as it doesn't get too offtopic and result in trolling I think then this could work out.

I think the simple fact of the matter is, what's the point?

Then we just have a misleading statistic on the front page, not to mention it will soon be up for a possibly legitimate change come GT5 release time.

We just might break the record by the 2nd anyways. People will buy GT5 and new users will swarm the forum.

I think that was most users online, meaning both members and guests. And I think that was when Doug's Ralf Lauren Veyron encounter made it big on Digg. I'm not even sure there are 7,575 active members on the site that would even see your message.

That time, it was safe since everyone was viewing the same page. Remember what happened during the Sony Conference at E3 when the GTP servers crashed? That number wasn't even close to 7,500. Let's not be mean to Jordan by killing his servers just for fun.

Thats why I purposly put it before the release so that it could be beaten by gt5 when it is released.

All I see it as is a bit of harmless fun that we could all try and achieve something together, this forum is abit too serious sometimes, Lighten up guys.

7,575 was the number of users online, including people looking who aren't/weren't registered.

I have a feeling that around the 3rd November the most users online count will be significantly higher, especially given the amount of coverage GTP has had in the past 12 months or so ;)

I know that is both non members and members but hopefully those who arn't members but surf the forums may see this and come on at that time so they can join in at this group effort.

I personally don't see the point, we're not really achieving anything and it'll most likely soar past that on initial release.

You haven't chosen an ideal date for this either, think about something significant that also happens on the 31st.;)

Words taken straight out of my mouth, 200% agree with Phil...

Is it safe to say, give up? Its a silly idea with no point behind it, this is something that as Phil said, is a statistic and one that is part of our history. We dont need to create history, it will come to us and it should also come to us in less than a month..

Just wait for November 1 to 5. 10,000 members and GT5 section filled with threads like "FINALLY GOT MY COPY!!!!!!!!!111!!!!1111!!!!!", or "WTF Y NO COCKPIT 4 STNDRDS?????????"

The reason we had 7,500 users that day, was because a thread of ours made it to the front page of Digg.

When i joined GTP we only just had more than 7500 TOTAL members... to think it has grown to be so large... almost brings a tear to the eye.

Just a hunch, but I get the feeling the record will fall by Nov. 5th and gonna guesstamate at around 11k people if the server hamster doesn't get tired.

I wonder if the counter can get that high before the server(s) crashes.

What thread was that?

Having that amount of people would probably ruin Jordan. Unless it's similar to digg where it's only one page and doesn't break the servers.

If we are going to do this I propose moving it forward a day due to halloween so it is saturday the 30th at 8pm. First thread now edited.

Get Digg to post an article of a thread here again, and maybe. Otherwise, wait 'til November 1st-6th.

Attempt finished, Attempt failed.

Moderators lock.

This might seem like an "in before the lock post," but did it really matter what the most users was ever? I bet a few years down the road when GTP has a lot of memebers the online count will rise, and it will keep rising. Just some 2 cents here.

What a massive surprise!!

I thought for sure it would happen!! Since like, over 9,000 people knew!!
