okay,here i go,my first thread,and im going to get straight to the point

i have searched high and low on this site and have not come up with a clear answer yet.
Is the Logitech Driving Force Pro belt driven or gear driven!
every where i have read i find contradictory answers and a hazy mist of lies and half truths.

I qoute from the logitech website

'Solid construction with precision engineering
Steel bearings support the main shaft to provide smooth, accurate steering with minimal lateral movement. And an optical sensing system encodes all steering movement with digital precision.'


Does this mean that it is neither belt or gear driven?or what?

i now have enough money to buy either the belt driven momo or the new Force pro, so please please please could someone give me some answers as i am itching to spend it!

thanks, but i cant decide whether to get the momo or the driving force pro,though i am a little dissapointed at the Pro being gear driven.
 
The Pro is probably the best wheel for PS2 around, I would go for that.
 
The only thing that im worried about is that its gear driven and i think this might be a bit offputting when im driving,or do you get used to it?
 
It's fine, it feels really solid and it fells like you can throw it around more than others. You do get that whirring noise from it but you stop noticing that after a few mins, it's not that loud anyway.
 
Maybe Rezz took apart his wheel? :trouble:

There's no such thing as a belt driven MOMO wheel.
Logitech's last belt driven wheel was made over 6 years ago I think.
 
Whats the pros and cons of Belt or Gear driven?
 
I heard on another forum the Momo does not work with GT4P.
 
im pretty sure the LGTFP is gear driven as i can feel the notchiness and noise when i drive GT4P with it. the only think im not sure, and there also doesnt seem to hav a definate answer to is whether the Logitech MOMO force is gear or belt driven... (Spin Bad should remember answering me on another thread : D )

so i also wud luv to hear an authoritive answer... (with evidence for sure)

yeah i also hear the Momo doesnt work with GT4P. so is it true anyone?

P.S. i own the LGTFP and i absolutely loved it. but it being gear driven pissed me a lil off... i havnt got the MOMO tho, so how does it feel? has anyone used it on GT4P who can tell? thx.

Yes, it's true. The MOMO Force does NOT work with GT4 Prologue.

FWIW, belt-driven wheels are not necessarily better than gear-driven wheels. They both have pros, and cons relative to each other.

Pro of belt-driven wheels....
Quiet opertation. :) They are not as noisy as gear driven wheels.

Laid-back feeling of force feedback. Some people like to say that force feedback generated by belt-driven wheels are gentle, and smooth. (I disagree on this part).

Cons of belt-driven wheels are less accurate force feedback effect (compared to belt driven), and durability. Since they are driven by belt, they tend to get expand over time, frequent usage.... and this affects overall performance (steering as well as force feedback) of the wheel.

Pros of gear-driven wheels... accurate, strong, and more responsive/prompt force feedback. Some people say force feedback generated by gear driven wheels feel like somewhat exaggerated.

Durability compared to belt-driven wheels.

Cons of gear-driven wheels... NOISY. :D

As you can see... their pro, and cons are relative to each other.
Those are just some few points that I remember top off my head.

Can you edit your post, I think you ment to put gear-driven in some places where you put belt-driven. Basically, you just talked about belt-driven and compared it to itself. lol
