Ok so here is the plan. I will start this thread in the Marketplace, then eventually move to the Help Desk when we determine it's ready.

With the influx of new people to GT5 I think this finally has to be fixed. I still constantly see people asking "Why isn't the Reputation Thread updated?" Have been seeing this for as long as I can remember.
People still post on GM's wall regarding updating the thread. This just shows that it is still unclear to people how to use the thread or what the purpose is. It's not to be listed in the OP and show everyone how many trades you completed. Honestly whether you completed 5 trades or 500 doesn't matter. We are not in competion to make the most trades that is just silly, we want to show that we completed a trade with so and so to show that we are reliable. Numbers don't mean much. Anyway this was already debated six months ago and I'm not trying to go there again.

At that time when we almost lost the thread. (Due to lack of understanding of how it works) I wrote a new OP. It was suppose to replace GM's but I think the mod who was helping us forgot. I also tried to contact GM on my own several times with no success. It's been so long that I want to try again. This time I think everyone should have input on this matter. I tried to explain it as best as I could in my own words. But please everybody look it over, tell me if I missed something or any input at all to make it perfect. I am in no way the one who could claim any credit for this concept. This system was in place before I even came to GT Planet. The problem is only the experience traders understood and the new members are confused because that OP has never been updated. So lets fix this!

Welcome to the GT Planet Traders Reputation Thread. If you have doubts on who your trading with this thread is an excellent resource to determine if the member in question is reliable.

First off, we strongly recommend utilizing the "USB Trick" especially when trading with new members. Info can be found here. Follow this procedure as insurance just in case you do get scammed you only lose a trade day rather than the actual item.

Please refer to this thread if you suspect you have been scammed. Do not accuse people of scamming in this thread.

Using "search" to view feedback: To look up a member simple click on the maroon toolbar in the upper right corner of the screen where it says "Search this Thread" and type the members name into the search bar and press "Enter". The forum will return all the post that contain feedback on that member. From there you can read through the feedback and determine for yourself if that member will complete their half of the deal. If you are using the :gtplanet: app the search box can be accessed by tapping the thread title from your device. See below.

Guidelines for leaving Positive Feedback
There is no official format for leaving feedback. However all feedback left in the thread must be POSITIVE. The way you post your feedback is unique to the individual. Just have a look through the thread for different examples. There is everything from colored numbers, to small gif images. Please ensure you type the members GTPlanet screen name exactly how it appears to ensure accurate search results.

Here are some common examples of criteria that is useful information when leaving feedback:

-Was it a trade or donation?
-Type of items? (car, ticket, paint, gear, etc...)
-How many?
-Communication
-Ability to resolve problems

Guidelines for leaving Negative Feedback
Negative feedback must be sent via private message, not posted in the thread. Members should endeavour to resolve any disputes via PM with their trade partner. (Moderators will not assist in resolving any disputes)

========================================
Last but not least please do not post anything other than feedback in this thread. This thread is a tool and not the place to rack up your post count. If you see another member abusing this thread please use the "Report" function that is at the bottom of every post. This is a self-sufficient thread that is set-up to run itself hopefully to GT6 and beyond...

Please all input/comments welcome. :) Also please just post and acknowledge this even if you have no input. Once I feel everyone has seen this I will move to Help Desk to have a moderator replace the old OP.

Quality work.
Maybe some pictures on how to correctly use the search bar would be appreciated am guessing by the new members that have started frequenting this side of GTPlanet.:D (Marketplace)
Chat soon bye for now.:)

It looks good, Hoodfield. I have traded a bunch since the game dropped, and always end up coming to GTPlanet when I need really rare stuff. Great resources here. Regards, SWERV_GRIFFIN

I quit using the point system a long time ago, no need for it really plus it would just take too much time to update. Search is a great tool to find positive feedback about a trader. Not too much you can do about finding negative feedback since it is not to be reported. One would just have to make their own assumptions about trading with others and new members. Good points 👍

Yes good suggestion. I will take a screenshot of the Reputation Thread open with the search bar enabled. That should clear up any confusion. I will wait until the OP is updated because if I did it now, it would be the old OP in the screenshot and that might confuse.

Yes, the thought of one person being in charge of updating a reputation thread is just mind boggling. :boggled: Not to mention the majority of trades probably aren't recorded in the current thread in the first place. My intention is to just clarify how to use the existing thread to it's full potential, something that not everyone is aware of.

About the negative. Hmmm... I didn't mention anything about "Neutral" feedback. I personally don't see a point, but my question to everyone is should I include some guidelines for leaving "Neutral" feedback and what should they be? Or should we just not even go there?

Another thought I had was should I included a sentence about backing up your gamesave to a USB stick in order to not lose anything? It's covered in the existing stickies already? Is that enough or does it need mention again.

Please discuss...

No probs mate like I say a picture is worth a thousand words.:D
So you can always do a little work and just do a few photos to explain thru pictures makes it easier for those who can not understand?
Or too lazy to read.
picture.php

Start you off with this one since I have it my pictures anyway.
But you may want to do your own just incase I ever delete mine to make room for other pictures I may need.
Chat soon bye for now.:)

This is actually perfect with the search part cropped. Would you be able to take the exact same pic with the search box open? (Maybe a dummy name typed) I'll find a place to upload it. If not I can do it later. I'm at work and have no idea how to use this 10 year old computer.

No dummy..Just real username and then one pic with results 👍

That looks good chris. But HOODFILED :D. Is there anyway to zoom in a little more? It reads very small from my computer, like I have to hit "click to enlarge" in order to read it.

You know what would be a good idea so it keeps getting updated? Have someone copy and paste all the people from the OP on the other one. Then get somebody who'll update it. That way no rep is lost.

Corrected name. I must type a bit quicker with my right hand than my left.
Plus am sorry mate I only upload my pictures here and it shrinks them for no reason?

Your not understanding what I'm saying. We are not making a new thread. In fact the whole point is to get rid of the list of names from the OP. Nothing is being lost at all. Thread runs itself no need to updated it.

E-mail me this pic. I will PM you my email. 👍

HOODFILED is almost as bad as ch1polte

But seriously I definitely like the OP but there has to be some attention given to the many people that use the app on idevices and such. I am putting a few images together to illustrate what I'm talking about and when done you can weigh whether or not it should be included.

I think I've been guilty of this.:guilty:

Thanks ch1potle, yes everyone's input is welcome. Then WE can decide, not just me. :D

I dont know what to think about it.
Usually newb members couldn't care less about reputation thread unless they get scamed.
and then, once they get scamed, they couldn't care less about using the same thread properly.
So we ended up with some sort traders appreciation thread, that is working ok I think.
Only problem is the typo for some user ID and the fact people are not interested in property reporting scamers.

For the USB trick, i'm always surprised to see how many folks doesn't have a clue about duping or back up data, I think its helpless to be honest, so it might be a good idea after all.

Thank you for your input Drevenger. I agree that many people do not care to use the thread properly but hopefully a fresh OP can change that.
Good point about the typo's. I added a sentence about that under "Guidelines for leaving Positive Feedback." 👍
Agreed about the USB trick. It really should be mandatory. Added that under the Negative feedback section. Added that first thing. 👍

Here is the default view of the Marketplace (below) using the app on an iDevice. As you can see, there is a tab for "Threads" (default view) and one for "Stickies". I think this is why so many miss seeing the important information in the stickies.

IMG_0131_zps72331f22.png

Tapping on the "Stickies" tab allows you to see the Reputation thread. (Although you can not easily search for a user.)

IMG_0132_zps43b149fe.png

By tapping the title of the thread you come to what is the same view as if in a browser.

IMG_0133_zpsb5aebc77.png

Finally, one can follow the steps above to search the thread for a specific user.

IMG_0134_zps91b9c38d.png

This is certainly much easier to do on a computer but with many members using the app on a phone, etc, it is important to see what is required to accomplish the same thing.

Ch1polte,

I'm thinking I just want to add in words the steps to use search from tablets/phones. It's basically as simple as clicking the thread title and following the existing steps. The pictures are confusing unless we circle what we're talking about in the captions. But then it's really overkill. How to find the sticky, well that is a given if your using the app. I know it isn't obvious but I think most people figure it out. :D Anybody else have an opinion on that? Thanks for taking the time to do that ch1polte! I'm sure many people we're unaware of how to switch to the main view.

ch1polte,
What I did is link this post in the OP. Viewed it from my phone and it looks good in the thread view. So that post will be the reference from now on "How to use search on the App". Sound good? What do you think? More info can't hurt.

Sounds excellent 👍

can't think of any additional input i can give but the idea gets a 👍 from me too. good work fellas

I tried to feel like a newbie and followed your instruction. My thoughts (as a newbie): "Hey, I know what to do now. This was very helpful."

Maybe you can add an advice for posting postive feedback that it`s not very helpful/usefull to post "+1,000,000,000,000 positive". Mostly the amount of trades or traded items sets the number. But it`s a personal thingy, I know. :indiff:

Over all: Great job you did here. 👍
