I believe i saw in an interview somewhere that Turn 10 intended to make level 150 only attainable for the truly hardcore players, and that it should take them much longer to reach it than level 50 in Forza 3 (in the order of half a year or so), but i'm already seeing level 150 people.

Is it much easier to get to 150 than they said, or are people glitching it somehow?

I'm 105 already and i'm a casual player - I'm thinking for hardcore players its easy.

My honda affinity is also 47 - they also said that would take years to reach 50. Also I havent looked around to see if you get anything for reaching 50 other than money but I hope its something awesome (probably not though ha) !

From what I have realised I think after a certain driver level and affinity the XP needed to level up does not increase it is the exact same for each level.

I'm 150 and got the game on day 1. I don't play extremely often, but a few hours every day at least, so it's not very hard to get... I didn't "grind" for it either.. just play a lot of rival challenges where you have to push hard and make a lot of laps to beat your rival and your XP will rocket up.

The XP still goes up upto level 150. You don't get gift cars anymore after level 50.

I got 150 in about 60 hours of driving. This was mostly from doing the Event List and playing online. It's really easy to get there. The real challenge is actually getting your Car Manufacturer levels to the level cap (50).

We mean the same value of XP required to get to the next driver level.

Sorry, I misunderstood!

And yes, I concur, getting any manufacturer to affinity level 50 is much more work.. my highest affinity is 23 for Nissan. I drive a lot of different cars, so that'll take a long while before I get that.

Why do they always have to cap the levels?
I wish it was unlimited.
Is there a reason why though? I don't think I know of any game where levels aren't capped

In programming there's always a cap on values, and the cap has to go somewhere. I doubt Turn 10 was hurting for memory so badly that they couldn't use more than an 8-bit value (<256) for the player level, but I also doubt they had any reason to consider adding more. Sorta like you said, you don't often see games with hundreds/thousands of player levels.

Would a cap of Level 65,536 (16-bit) be enough? I don't think you'd still be using the original, scratched-up game disc by that point.

Let me reverse that:

What's the point of no cap? Seems like an e-peen thing to me more than anything else.

Neither question really has an answer though imho, all your level shows is how much time you put into the game, nothing more. Personally i'd rather see a "skill level" ELO style so that the number actually means something, or a level based on GT-esque licenses for the same reason (so it shows your actual estimated skill rather than an arbitrary number based on how much you've been grinding XP).

^^ both those answers make sense.
About the e-peen, I probably wouldn't have a huge level myself, it would just be interesting to see others levels if they played it a whole lot

Well I do know not having caps can have problems. You start getting math errors etc. and the next thing you know the game freezes and reboots your 360 40 times and dies. lol. Games used to not have level caps and they'd eventually have some type of problem down the road.

I don't imagine affinity will be that hard to rack up for those of us who are particularly single-track-minded. :o

Anything Le Mans is a go for me.

Though i rather miss a day/night transition in Forza... Doing a "24H" race in Grid of GT5 on Le Mans was breathtakingly good and it's seen the best online racing i've ever had.

Is this maybe in the wrong thread?

Anyway i'm at affinity level 48 for honda now its such a pain !

So when you get to level 150, you stop getting the level bonuses I'm assuming?

Nope, the game just starts randomly awarding you money for staying at the same level.

...Here's your sign.:dopey:

Getting those driver level bonuses was the way I made most of my credits; without them now, it's going to be difficult to accumulate enough to buy the really expensive cars.

The problem there is for some people (like me), you have to be a good driver to make good money in rivals. :(

Not really, though I suppose it depends what you think "good" money is. Even if you find 1 that you can get into a 25k range then instead of beating friends, beat people near you just by a hair and repeat.;)

No, not really. It's the top 2-3% of racers that are really tough to beat for the casual racer, but you don't have to be anywhere near that to make 50,000 or even 100,000 credits.

Or you can be a little bit more sneaky ;)

If you go into rivals and pick a time worth say 100k, then as soon as you're in the race disconnect from xbox live (remove cable) then go and beat the time. Once you've beaten it you should get the money and xp but the time wont post to the board so you can simply rinse and repeat as many times as you find necessary using the same rival so you don't move up the board but keep earning money.

This is just a theory as I haven't tested it yet but I thought it might work?

Level 150 is going to be hard for me to attain, I'm limited (by parents) to 5 hours a week.
