I posed this idea in the Kaz Q&A, but I want to add a bit to it.

First, five levels of play.

They are:

Casual
Beginner
Amatuer
Professional
Expert

Why?

Well, it's rather simple. If you want to join a race, you want to know what level of interaction you are going to have, and a Pro PROBABLY doesn't want to race a beginner.

However, the outside two can have different reasons.

For casual, a pro may be looking for a demo derby to just screw around with. Or someone may be there for photo mode only. This can be the level a person wants to achieve, or it can be the level of seriousness they want to have at the moment.

For Expert, we can understand how good someone is at something. For example, the aliens can be expert drivers. No problem there.

But....

What about an expert drifter, track creator, livery editor, room host..... The list can go on and on.

I still think that knowing a person's driving level will (obviously) want to be known, but there is so, so much more to this game than just driving anymore!

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Forza addressed this issue with a quantitative measure, assigning a number to each player. The number rose and fell over time. It didn't seem to be simply based on victories, rather it seemed to be based on "how well" one drove.

I recall that when I had a "good day", I'd generally see my number increment by one. On "off days", it'd slip back.

For example, if I was having a good day, chose an inferior car and was beaten by a friend, I'd still often see my number rise. Presumably because I was "driving better than yesterday".

Is this what you're looking for?

Maybe. I hadn't thought through how it would work out, but that sounds like a very good idea!

I would still like to have an idea if someone is better at hosting an event, or building a track, or... whatever. ;)

The other thought is a little like what they have done with the community features, that being "Here to mess around" (Free run) or "Here to race for fun" or "Here to be serious", etc.

All of this would be good to be able to go a little further with, like a demolition derby or just something else for fun, and a better event generator in general. :) ;)
