LG TV Sky darkening in braking zones?

I've recently brought a new LG TV, a C5 I believe, and It looks great but I have a weird issue.

The issue comes from the braking zones. I prefer to have the giant "BRAKE" zone, just in case there's a surprise turn, but when I go over it, the sky seems to darken, when I pass it, the sky goes back to normal.

Similarly, when the screen is on a sunset, the rest of the screen darkens.

Is there some kind of setting that's causing this?

Is your new TV an OLED? I've got an LG OLED from 5-6 years ago with a setting that does something like that.

I'm not near my TV to check, but I believe it's for burn-in protection. If the TV interprets something as a persistent logo, it'll dull the area around it in response.

I primarily play in VR these days, but I still see a dark patch around the track map on the rare occasions I play on the TV directly. Maybe yours is doing something similar in response to the brake marker assist flashing up?

Yes it is, I believe there's an option to turn off burn-in protection, But I'd rather a darkened portion than OLED burn-in.

On modern OLEDs the burn in protection is almost invisible, so I doubt you're seeing that. I'd check the HDR settings first, see my earlier post.

Might also be worth checking any dynamic settings, ie Dynamic Contrast and Tone Mapping.

The first one I don’t use, but have Tone Mapping on and it does adjust the picture brightness a bit artificially sometimes.
