Q: How long did it take everyone to finish the license tests?
I did all the licenses in a couple of days.
S did not take that long at all because I had gotten quit a bit of practice the night before.
Here are some of my tips for S license (or any race really):
- Be very delicate with the gas and steering.
- Tap the gas or press very lightly if you are aiming to simulate a small throttle opening.
- (in high-powered RWD Cars) Try not to brake heavily and turn at the same time. Get your braking done before the turn, and accelerate through with a small throttle opening (be LIGHT). Once you are about to straighten out, go full throttle and prepare to countersteer a bit if your car starts to oversteer. (READ: Cote d' Azur in the GT-One)
- WATCH THE DEMO, it really helps to let you know where to position your car for the fastest line. Remember, really flying through one corner well can set you up for disaster in the following one. Learn to compromise the first corner for the fastest exit out of the second. (I totally screwed up every S license test until watching the demo).
- Within reason, it is better to be too slow in a corner than too fast. You can learn proper braking points by taking it easy, and making up time elsewhere. Inadequate braking = FAIL.
- Remember a very important racing adage: "Slow in = Fast out"
- I have found that using a manual is not necessary and should be reserved for very advanced players. I am not able to come close to bronze on S8 if I use manual, because the frequency of the shifts tend to upset my car's balance and totally screw my line. You should be able to complete ALL licenses with auto trans.
- In problematic tests, Take a couple of easy laps around the course to familiarize yourself with it. Every lap, shave off a few more seconds until you are within 5 seconds of bronze. Now, watch your ghost against the demo. Figure out where you are losing speed, and why. Shave off more and more time until you can somewhat keep up with the demo. Now, really go for it.
I realize that there are many experts here that have gotten many golds, but this is intended for those that need help.
Let me know what you think.
