I have not posted in quite some time, but I got back into GT3 after a stint with THPS3, and GTA3.

I decide to share my 79% completed game with someone and it got erased.

So I'm starting over and seem to be having alot more fun with it.
I have yet to race, since I am trying for all golds in the License tests.

So far B,A,IB and first 3 tests of IA completed with golds. I am using the original ps2 controller.

I had difficulties on IA3, IB8 and a few which I don't remember the test number

- Large wet circle track with a corvette (I can't recall, but where in the game you race a wet track that is not Rally? can you say 4wd not rwd?)
- RUF on Complex String shicane section with Traction and Acceleration control ON - I think IB6. Difficult since I usually play with these very low or off.

The rest were not too bad. Granted, I had trouble with S8 last time through but that was before many gaming hours and I could only get bronze on any test before. I hope it won't be my nemesis this time (stupid Toyo spinner mobile)

The only things that have helped me.. so far

1. Don't be afraid of the brake. (I learned this after 300 tries at IA3)
2. Don't be afraid to let OFF the gas. ( I learned this after 200 tries at IB8)
3. Learn to brake without turning.
4. When needed, start a turn without gas.
5. Maximize turn exit speed prior to a long straight.
6. If possible, complete a turn without the slightest skid.
7. Learn to prevent the autotranny from shifting to get extra torque when needed or prevent downshift skids.
8. Watch the demo with all of the goodies turned on - the throttle monitor, steering wheel monitor, everything - this can be set up in the options at the test screen.
9. Watch the speeds on the demo you should be braking into or carrying out of a corner. You can do it faster if you have a better line, or do it slower to get a better line.
10. Compare your ghost on demo to see what turns you have nailed and what turns are problems.
11. The demo does not always take the best line, but it's usually pretty close.
12. Save yourself some time, if the turn did not "feel right" it probably was not right, quit and re-start.
13. If you get frustrated, quit for awhile and start back later. I finally got gold in IB8 in three tries the next day where as the night before I had done it 197 times trying to shave off .048 seconds.
14. Yes, it can be really annoying trying to find where you have to shave off .008 seconds.

I hope the rest of you including myself that have trouble with these test can now get those free cars, since that initial 18k really buys alot.

That's what I found. I recently decided to restart my GT3 game and found it a lot better the second time round. I concentrated on licence golds first and got an MX-5 and RX-8 to start the game with. Then the 18,000 creds at the start can be used solely to buy upgrades. A much more sensible way to do it.

Nice Very nice.
This must go up as a write-up for dhows how need to read it. It good.

 I thought about restarting but don't know if it would be the same? :D

How did you find it better the second time neepheid? :gcar:

Well, the first time was directionless - just pass the licences with bronze to get going, buying a car at the start meant mney was tight, took ages to be able to afford a better car, bought daft cars that I could have won or were only suitable for a handful of races.

Basically, using what I know now as opposed to then improved my experience of the game. I'm now at 48% and almost finished Amateur.

i restarted a week ago after sitting at 100% for a while, and yes, it's more fun
i'm not sure why that is, but i'm not complaining :).

I think I'm having more fun since I've been through the stages of:
- Getting the fast cars and killing the competition
- Running an easy race multiple times to get $$

The first time I started, I owned the PS2 for 1 day, so the game was more difficult since I was learning the controller, how to race etc...

After I figured out the controller and how to race the $$ came alot easier LATER in the game.

Since I'm completing all golds in the license tests and won't have to re-run races to get $$, I know the beginning of the game should be less of a beating it was the first time through.

Besides, it does feel pretty good that I CAN beat that programmer who did the license tests and time trials.
