In GT5 there are licences but since there is a level system I don't do them. I've always never liked licenses (especially in GT4) and I am glad you do more races by actually racing not licences but I see people still do them.

Do you do licences, if yes then why?

I don't. But considering I've almost completed every race I can in Aspec and Bspec, I'm thinking about doing them. Especially since I've heard you can win stuff by golding them?

They're pointless in GT5. Mostly due to the fact that SRF must be on, and the fact that A-spec and B-spec levels have overrided the License's job in previous GTs.

Well the biggest single reason why I think they should be done is that they count towards the game completion. I also think they are still useful as a reminder to how you should approach certain aspects of racing.

@Hanniballl92 You do indeed win cars and one for each level of completion (bronze, silver, gold)

License tests in GT5 teach you the basics of racing, they're eternally useful because they're a mandatory tutorial that everybody needs to go through.

Even when you've been driving as long as I have it's a great way to learn the physics changes of the new game and have a little refresher before you hit the tracks again.

I very much doubt they won't be returning in future instalments, so you had best get used to it now 👍

I did all the way to the S, because I wanted to get the GT Academy R35.

And actually I find licenses pretty entertaining, it reminds of my young days, playing GT2, which back then was almost impossible for me to take the licenses.

Yes.

-Because it makes you a better driver.
-You win cars.
-If I look at someones GT profile and I see that they haven't done any licences, it makes me wonder what sort of a driver they are.
-60 golds makes a profile look great :)

I hope that they make the tests vital to moving on in the game like the olden days.
Real life race drivers need to earn their racing licences, why should it be any different in "The Real Driving Simulator"?

1st thing I did when I got the game was gold all the licenses... took 23 hours of real time, around 12 hours of actual driving... GT5 license tests are simple compared to previous versions of the game and only 1 or 2 are a decent challenge.

Licenses are still a great way to learn the basics of the physics engine and how to get a good line/speed through a given corner. Personally, I think everyone should do them - they'd become much better drivers if they took the time to learn how to play the game properly.

And all SRF does is up the grip levels, so this just means you complete the test a bit faster than your would with it off... you still need to use proper driving techniques to pass them (well, to gold standard you do).

After the licenses I completed all the special events in order, only running A Spec when I needed to to level up and un-lock the next special event.

By the time I got to the main part of A spec I was already at a decent level and had a good stock of cars to get me going.

Are you sure SRF is forced on? I don't remember that.

The license tests are hugely beneficial, especially if you're just learning your wheel.

The tests will teach you some techniques and approaches to different types of corners, tracks, etc.

Later on when you're racing it'll prevent you from saying, "I just can't seem to get the hang of this track/corner/etc." because the game will have already taught you how to do it.

I've seen a few people on the boards ask for help with certain tracks who are surprised with the advice given. If they had done the license tests they would have already known how to do it. ;)

I appreciate your opinion.

I like to learn by races (especially with people), it's more fun that way, so I don't do them. I'm also not a 100% complete person.

Does that mean you're only part of a person? :dopey: hehe (I knew what you meant, but I couldn't resist.)
