Licenses needed for gold average?

So I've been putting off doing the licenses for a while now, and I've finally decided to just get them over with. Problem is i went through the b license and got a silver average. Ok cool, I figure I can just get a couple of my silvers into gold and then it'll be a gold average right? Nope, no gold average after 6, 7, or 8 of the racing being done with gold and the other 2 being silver.:ouch:

So, I suppose my question is do I need all 10 of the races to be gold or what?

Wow, that so messed up. Why even have the word average needed then. *sigh* This could take a while.

Regardless, thank you for the information.

I took about 20-25 hours to gold every licences.

But note that I'm not a very very good GT player and that I was using a DS3 for all challenges!

I'm pretty sure that if I'd do them again, it'll take a lot less than those 25 hours!

If you don't reach gold standard on all licences, how would your average reach gold standard?

'Silvered' them all, currently trying to gold them all with a DS3... I'm going slightly insane.

I was under the assumption that it was your average grade for the whole 10 races. Something like 7 golds and 3 silvers should be a "gold average" you would think.

No, that makes no sense. The requirement to get the gold prize car for any given license is to get all golds. This doesn't mean you can get 9 golds and 1 silver, it means 10 golds. The gold standard trophy is exactly the same.

I guess we are misunderstanding each other. When I first did these licenses it told me I got my prize because i had a silver average. I took that to mean for all races. Not on an individual basis. Like you put all of them together an divide it by whatever to get your average.

I understand now, you get all gold you get the gold prize along with the silver and bronze prizes.

Well take it from the aspect of you take 10 tests, you get an A on 9 and a B on 1. Your average will never be an A (eliminating silly rounding up). This is the aspect here.

59 golds except slalom challenge. I haven't tried in a long time, I got so tired of trying. Be nice to have all golds, maybe some day I will try again.

Same boat as you my friend except my elusive 60th gold is at Indianapolis with the Double Hairpin.

That was a tough one, assuming you mean the faster one. I tried and gave up a couple times, then watched a video on here of someone golding it without EVER lifting, then I went back and golded it a few tries later. I did lift at least once however.

The license tests are on my 'to do' list, I have completed them all , but only gollded half of them. The slalom ones being the one's that make me lose interest.

I know there's a bunch of videos/playlists on youtube where people go through each individual race and give out tips and whatnot. That might help.

Indeed. I also watch the provided examples a handful of times and make mental notes. What gear, speed, braking/turning points, etc. From there I can make some minor changes, some of which do end in a DQ. Nonetheless, this "forced" viewing has pushed me nearer to a gold on the IB-3 TG slalom, down to a 18.867 now. It really is all hundredths and thousandths at this point.

Yea, both helped. I actually just finished (60 gold). Took perhaps 6 -8 hours total time. I'm kinda disappointed with the prize cars. Oh well though, got some more trophies for my efforts.

I think that would be Silver.7 (Silver point 7). Which is not quite Gold.

In actuality, you can not average "a thing", only numbers. A trophy is a thing. The best you can do with things is to get a majority of. So you can get a majority of golds (6 out of 10 would be a majority). However, if you are looking to get the Gold Standard trophy, you need to get all Gold trophys in the license test along with all special events and all A or B spec races.
