Morning Guys

I am having difficulty golding these bad boys and have a lot of silvers.

My question is, would they be a lot easier to obtain using a steering wheel?

I have the DFGT and dont use it that much (i know its a sin). I tend to use the DS3, but i cannot get near the gold times in licences.

Can anyone shed any light please?

in using a wheel (g27) and got all gold....very hard...very......but i know a couple off friends that made this achevement with a remote so keep working at it!!!!

I golded all licenses first time round with my DS3 (with only ABS)

The second time round I golded them all again with my DFGT & with all aids + ABS switched off and it was easy enough to do. Some of my gold times I was taking tenths off of!

My advice is to you is to keep going over and over with the licenses, go on youtube and watch some gold videos and then practice them over and over. Thats how I golded them all and tbh I think that is the best way to achieve gold aswell.

(You can gold the licenses with either input device, from my experience the wheel will give you faster times overall. But don't be afraid of using both, I can think of some challenges that are easier with a controller than with a wheel)

I had a DFGT sitting aside while I golded all licenses with a ds3.. (#99 in the list!).
So it is possible to do it with a controller. I've heard it's even easier now after the new patches that allows you to hit AI little stronger now..

I didn't use the dfgt at first cause it seems like when I tried driving with it I was useless, so I did all of them with the controller.

Now I play only with the wheel and it's much easier and ofcourse much more fun.
I found it much easier to make the transition to a wheel by doing races with a wheel, where you can drive a bit slower at your own pace and driving like you're used to in a car.
Only after you get the hang of it, you'll be able to try Golding licenses with the wheel.

My other advise is to try golding over and over again cause you know it's possible.

What I did found, which for me really proved the advantage of the wheel, was the B-2 License run in the Alfa Romeo at Tokyo. I golded that license test easily with a DS3, then I jumped into the Alfa with a DFGT and went two tenths faster! (And that was with an early upshift into third)

If you are going to use the DFGT to do the licenses (which I recommend you use the wheel as GT5 is so much better with a wheel as a whole) then you must must must use manual gearing.

When I golded the events with a DS3 I was using ABS and was in auto. Then I did DFGT + Manual + No ABS and went tenths faster in a lot of events, such as the Tokyo One, the Megane one at the Nurb, the 1 Series one at the Nurb & the Swift one at Deep Forest.

So it works out like this:

DFGT + Manual + ABS (Either On or Off) + No aids = Easy golds :)

Use manual also for the DS3. Got to around 55 gold without, and then struggled with a few. Switched to manual and got them.

Of course, takes a while and got to keep at them.

I've had a wheel for a few years now but hardly ever used it. I used the license tests in GT5 as a way of familiarizing myself with the wheel. For me it was a much better way than just jumping straight in and competing in races with GT4 or GT5P as i'd tried previously. Because a majority of the licenses are just taking a small handful of corners with some braking points thrown in, i found it much easier to learn just a short group of actions over and over again than it was to be chucked in at the deep end trying to learn a new control method and race against largely unpredictable competitors. By the time i'd completed, and mostly golded, the first dozen or so tests using the wheel felt just as natural as using the controller had previously.

It had been quite a change for me to go from controller to wheel - i'd been using a controller, with auto gears and chase cam ever since GT1. Now i'm using bumper and manual changing with the wheel, but it just feels right and certainly gives you a finer level of control over your driving inputs.

I have however, managed better times using a controller in the slalom and braking tests.

Licenses are easy, if you're willing to spend a few hours on some certain tests.

I golded them all with my DS3 before I got my DFGT, I thought they where way to easy, especially after I got my triggers on L2 and R2, that made them so much easier...

Don't forget to take a look at the replay's.
