What is it with these damn licenses.... you spend half an hour doing the same boring damn license test over and over and over and over and over etc. again.. only to find your best time is only 17 one-thousanths of a second off the pace... and wot is it with that retarded ghost car putting you off all the time, how can you possibly improve your time when that friggin thing keeps rearing its ugly head in front of you.

AAAAAAARrrrGGGHHHHHH!!! dammit, need.... to.... release.... FRUSTRATION.... :banghead:

Sorry about that. :D

these licenses really suck, they should abolish em in gt4 and spend more time on new tracks & cars rather than more tests to annoy people with.

Hey if your finding the ghost car annying just press the select button to turn it off. That should releave sum frustration. Although I doubt they will remove the licence tests because the are a major part of the game structure. Seeeing as the game isnt that hard (ok ok with the eception of the licences) they are one of the only major challenges and if removed the game would loose its essential Gran Turismoness (Yea Right  )

Anyway sorry about all that blabbing hope the select button thing hepls ya :D

I never found the liscenses to be that much of a challenge personally. I was kinda hoping that they would have MORE and LONGER tests in GT4. They are fun because they help you develop your skills and because they also teach you the courses somewhat because most of the tests are just portions ripped straight off some of the tracks. They need to hav better prizes though for getting all gold. Oh, and I really like the ghost car because it shows you what you did last lap and it lets you see what you did wrong, and what you did right, and it lets you improve on your time.

I agree, the licenses are a PITA, even the basic ones. However, they are kind of realistic since every sanctioning body requires testing before they will just turn you loose on the track with other victims (errr, racers...).

The good thing about the licenses is that they teach you the proper way to drive. That way you can polish your skills until you beat the other cars fairly. The alternative is to just build your car up until it can trounce the competition, and then win by being a track bully rather than a good driver. It gets the job done, but it's not as rewarding in the long run.

Besides, in real racing, if the collisions didn't kill you, the other drivers would in the paddock after the race.

i agree. i didnt think the tests were that hard. the only one that gave me trouble was the S test. they do help improve your skills, though. the ghost helped me with the S test, because u know how good you are doing, compared to your last run.

on the super liscence, i missed bronze by .003 seconds, on two different tracks. it was frustrating the first time it happened, but i just had to laugh on the 2nd time. it was more like a "what are the odds of that".

im not a huge fan on getting all golds. when i first crack open the game, i tear through the liscences getting mostly bronze and silver. i usually cant wait to buy a car and start real racing. maybe when i get 100% ill get all gold. but u are right, they need better prizes for all gold on a liscence.

AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!! :banghead:

Well i'm stuck on Corkscrew (IA-5 i think), the target is 22.900 and my best still only 22.917...

AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!! :banghead:

any tips guys? this dodge viper has a snappy back-end, it keeps running wide on the sweeping left-hander too.

AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!! :banghead:

Hey I feel your frustration topgun even through I don't agree with you on the whole do away with licences thing

but I have the best way to get your licenses is to do a fairly good run save the ghost and try to beat your ghost :D

:rotfl:   :haha:

22.872!! :D

thank **** for that, only another 15(ish) more frustrating tests to go.

Yeah, I gave up trying to gold all my license tests on the B round. Now I settle for a solid bronze and the occaisional silver. I'll go back and nail them eventually...

the s-licenses are hard as hell
gt40 seatlle 2
1:35.003, took me 3 hours to get this, after trying and trying

the hardest oen is IA and S, easiest one B and Rally

On Seattle II with the GT40, just learn to keep your backend in line with ease of the throttle, you may find this car exciting and fun to drive. I just like the GT40, and actually enjoy racing at Seattle also. That does help make this test easier.

About the corkscrew, improve your time at the corkscrew if possible. My suggestion is to hold 2nd gear all the way through the corkscrew. If you do that, there shouldn't be too much tailfishing when you press the accelerator coming out of the turn. Plus, if it shifts down to 1st gear, your back wheels will spin like crazy, and you will just slide right off the track or around backwards. I learned that the hard way. As for the sweeping left, just ease off the throttle right as you enter the turn, then ease back on as soon as possible. Pressing all the way while turning will cause this car to spin and oversteer, thus losing time. Good luck!!! :burnout:

Hey, I just did my IA license tonight. I was gonna run the Miata Enduro, but I was deeeee-nied because I only had my IB. So I went up a notch instead.

The Viper/Corkscrew one was tricky. I got a fairly good run (for me) by conciously steering to the right going up the last rise, and braking before the crest. The hard left comes up deceptively fast.

The NSX test was hard because I kept assuming I was overcooking the turns, only to find that the brakes work really well, and I was nearly at a dead stop in the middle of the corner.

The two Skyline tests were a lot of fun, though the second Complex String section (the decreasing-radius loops) was an excercise in zen tranquility. It's so hard to remember that you gotta be slow to go fast...

Anyway, I bronzed 'em all except the Corkscrew and the NSX Tokyo run, which I silvered. I don't expect much better at the moment.

But I digress... time for bed.

I quite enjoyed doing the license tests. It never really took me more than four or five attempts to nail any of them. The trickiest ones were the various section at Complex String (can't remember which license they were for). Those took me a little while to do well.

I certainly agree with the idea of license tests. And at the end of the day, it gives you some good skills for the races.

Licences are a challege that make up an important part of the game. At times they may be frustrating but just remember how good it feels when you finally get it!

Hey another tip for the corkscrew....

Get to the right going up the hill on approach. On the right side of the road you will notice the numbered signs that countdown from 4 I think. At the sign with 3 on it, slam brakes, make sure you are in a straight line when you do that. Get to second gear, then hold R2 to stay in that gear, let off brakes, then make the left hand turn into the corkscrew. Don't turn too late though, you will hit sand. Turn too soon, you may end up facing the way you came in. Once you know you have cleared the corkscrew enough, let off R2, then get back on the accelerator. Of course watch your speed and accelerator on the upcoming left-hander to complete the test..... Hope that helps...

Yup, I'm stuck on several of the S licenses.
I'm about a second from a bronze at Gvalley.
Nowhere at all with the Seattle and Special Route tracks - maybe 3 seconds away.

Just part of the fun man. If it was easy you wouldnt enjoy it.

Seattle II in the GT40 is a pain. Braking early is what got me thru, albeit with a bronze.
As for Seca. Watch the right side of the track. When you pass the second Bosch sign on the wall start braking and sliding to the left. Take the left wheels over the rumble strip. then the right wheels over the rumble strip going down the hill. gently back on the gas and ride it out.
