Maybe for you. You know, nobody handles a keyboard the same way, and I don't push my keyboard because I lose to a game and I certainly don't ram my fingers through the keys. In fact, I try to keep the typing noise down.

But anyway, you really seem to hate those keyboards and I respect your opinion.

BTW, spending lots of money doesn't mean they break faster. I have the Logitech Media Keyboard I've had for about 2 years and it is still in mint condition. Just learn how to use a keyboard if you think they break easily...

Learn how to use a keyboard? where is the evidence to back up your well thought out theory that I mash, ram, "push", and physically destroy my keyboard? See, I used to use a keyboard that my dad had back in the '90s. Old keyboard, right? It wasn't lighted obviously, just your basic QWERTY keyboard. That thing lasted me until 2 years ago. Not because It broke, but because I got a new one. I know about 3 people with lighted keyboards, 1 of which fits the description as a lunatic that destroys their equipment, but the other 2, nah. None of them lasted much longer than 8-10 months at most. The LEDs are the first things to go usually. Then the keys always seem to lose responsiveness or stick, then things just start failing. I'm just trying to help you make the right decision. It's not a wise investment to spend money on a lighted keyboard. They aren't exactly new technology, but they aren't rock-solid yet either. Most of the decent ones won't last you very long. You could always just practice with your current keyboard in the dark and memorize the keys. Try it for about a month. It's not like touch typing. It's quite easier. Just keep practicing until you 9 times out of 10 hit the right key. Walla! No need to spend $30 on a keyboard, and you don't have to turn on the light (which I still reccomend because you can really endanger your eyes by doing that...your retinas won't like you very much).

I wouldn't recommend buying any keyboard that has "gold plated connectors". They are overpriced, and if that whole .00001 ms you save because you have gold connectors is that important to you, then you need to be in CAL..

Here are some I found on NewEgg:

It's up to you to decide what one you'll be interested in.

Wow, That green ones pretty cool looking. i wouldnt mind paying $15 dollars. Good deal IMo, even if it breaks its cheap enough to replace.

If you think that he's gonna waste his money on an illuminated keyboard, then why not just shut up now because he sure isn't listening to you.

Here's a great option if you're willing to spend a few more bucks.

It's called the Saitek Eclipse. Saitek is the makers of peripherals and controllers for the PC that are more towards the high-end range. 535 reviews for this keyboard at newegg and it has a 5 out of 5 star rating. Now clearly MachOne has tried every illuminated keyboard and found they all suck, but I think this one might be worth a try if that's what you're looking for.

I forfeit the argument. Have fun with your quest of finding an illuminated keyboard.

You were fighting a losing battle. It's about time you gave up.

That Saitek keyboard looks nice. I think I'll get one. 👍

Woah... I never knew lighted keyboards inspired anger.. For me they always inspired me to go "Wow, thats neato" And i've always wanted one. Now seeing that they are pretty cheap, I just may order one.

Machone, obviously you know these people who have got every single lit keyboard on the market, so that's why you can give this clear opinion (and I'm assuming these friends would be around your age, which = poor treatment of keyboards).

Mugen, I'd highly recommend the G15. I know several people with them and they love them, never had any problems with them either. Also the LCD can work with a lot of games, you just have to use some downloadable configs for it.

Again, here we go with the smartass comments and ignorant assumptions. Really, could you guys try and be more mature and drop it? I tried this about 4 posts ago, but nobody seems to have gotten the point. Do I need to stab it through your head for you to get it?

Relax, MachOne. There's no need to get angry over keyboards.

MugenVTEC, have you considered MachOne's warning about eye strain? He does make a very good point of the damage it can do to your eyes.

I think it all depends on the idividual. I usually have all my lights off at night and I really don't have any problems.

Regardless of who you are, massive light differences such as using an LCD monitor in pitch black surroundings WILL burn out your retina (or cornea..not sure which). Basically, your eye won't adjust to the light because the rest of the surroundings are not lit, causing you to take in more light into your eyes than you should. Basically it's like looking into the sun.

As much as I hate to admit it, MachOne is right on this one. However, I still do it, I think it is a late-night must! Computing deep into the early hours of the morning wouldn't be the same with the light on... I am about to go and buy an el cheapo spillproof, sealed, illuminated/lit/lighted/'oooh-look-at-the-pwetty-lights' keyboard in a minute or two.

Yeah, back when I was able to get one in the wee hours in the morning, I would keep every light off, and id be just fine. But it is proven it WILL eventually hurt your eyes. after some of those nights, when i finally went to sleep, i wouldn't exactly feel right. My eyes would just feel weird, but luckily it Didn't last too long. But thi effect i think will happen either with or without light at specific times. I am at a job right now that requires me to stare at a computer screen for 9 1/2 hours a day. and when i get home i get about another 30 minutes of exposure to a monitor. so 10 hours of a computer a day can really hurt you.. But a lighted keyboard would make a difference especially if you were gaming at about 3AM. But as for me, when im typing (unless it's really early...like right now) I never really glance at the keyboard. I basically got it mapped out exactly where i want every finger to go, and when i want it to.

I got a low-brightness CRT. I also have the TV that makes a minimum of light but it isn't enough to me. I don't have budget for LCD, I barely have budget to keep paying my internet bill...

The reasons I don't turn my lights on is that it creates heat in my room, enough to make me sweat like ****. My room isn't big and for some reasons it's the most hot room of all. Even with a air conditionner it still very hot. I can endure heat very much, but all the time, it makes me have headaches and all kinds of crap. I love heat, but not at this level...

I've been doing this since 2001 and starting being in the dark in 2002-2003 and since then never stopped. I don't seem to have a problem, but only in winter which the reflexion of light on the snow hurts my eyes. But I don't think it is the cause as I've had a concussion in the past. My eyes are ok at the sunlight tho.

Fluorescent lamps are cheap, and make virtually no heat. Leave one run for an hour, and it'll be cool to the touch.

Regardless of how bright your monitor is (although that is a factor), the contrast difference in the light is like looking at the sun on a clear day. There is only one small focused area of light, so your eye won't adjust quickly. If your whole field of vision is extremely bright, your eyes will adjust for it.

As I said, try checking out some fluorescent lamps. They are cheap, cost effective, create almost no heat, and you can almost be 100% positive they will last you a while (I have one, and It's lasted me for 4 years on the same bulb it came with when I bought it). They also take very little power.
