Choosing engine noises would be the single greatest thing in history. I want an old locomotive train, and at the start line I want a space shuttle take-off.

Make mine an Alco 244, with a smoke generator that spouts black smoke every time I push the throttle a little further down.

Doesn't that negate the benefits of electric-powered cars-

Right. Electric cars don't sound that bad, but that's just my opinion.

Jim, I knew that. *looks around*

I saw this car at the Motor Show, it looks really good in the flesh IMO, but the motors behind the wheels are bright blue and they stand out an absolute mile. They were the first thing I saw when I looked at the car, which is not the way it should be.

If only it wasn't electric. That car is drop dead sexy.

+1 Completely!

Looks pretty good, but seriously, 700HP?

I don't know if it's works this way, but if it had 350hp and a 400 mile range it would be like 6 trillion times better.

+1 That would be what the electric car "scene" needs to pickup its image.

But as Toronado said, in 25 years we'll have hydrogen and other alternative methods of driving wheels in combination of each other. Electric and Hybrid Electric cars by themselves ARE NOT THE FUTURE. If this car say had the hydogren motor with some discrete solar panels with a sprinkle of an electric motor it would be brilliant.

BASIC SCIENCE QUESTION ALERT:

If you can use hydrogen to power cars can you use hydrogen to generate electricity?

Solar-powered Greenhouse, anyone? With a hydroelectric-powered water-sprayer?

I drew up some designs for a powerplant tonight. I've solved the oil crisis.

What, you mean like this?

Railfans have known about this alternative to diesel traction in cities for years. first examples were in the '40s, but ultimately failed due to inflexibility and wear and tear on equipment.

By the way...Fusion. If you're gonna use hydrogen to produce Commercial power, forget Fuel Cells, Fusion is the way to go. (if it can ever work reliably.)
