After a brief shakedown at Magny -Cours, The Ligier JS P217 was unveiled at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. A new car built in compliance with the 2017 LMP2 regulations, This new model takes advantage of all Onroak Automotive's experience in the construction of LM P2 chassis. The design of the Ligier JS P217 is the result of the experience from Onroak Automotive Design and just like with the JS P2 before it, was lead by Nicolas Clemencon. It is a completely new car and it makes use of very advanced aerodynamic studies to optimize drag reduction, leading to the development of a particularly efficient cooling system. The mechanical features of the car that were concentrated on included a new axle with nut and rim to shorten tire changes, the efficiency of the axles, weight distribution, accessibility of mechanics at the front of the cockpit, aerodynamic efficiency, a powerful LMP1 style power steering system and a limited number of chassis pieces. The driver's comfort, space, controls accessibility, and visibility also had particular attention put on it.

The addition of this car adds one of the new Global LMP2 cars to GT, along with the Ligier Name.
