Linelocks?

What up yall, I have a question to throw out. First, linelocks are devices that lock up the front brakes (I read how they work once but forgot). It seems like pretty much all the d1 cars have them, and use them as much if not more than the e-brake. But it's hard just from watching to see what effect they have. In my mind I picture the reverse of an e-brake, which would push the front end out, useful for over-rotation I guess. Is that how yall see it or have more knowledge than me? It's possible that they're not even using the linelocks for locking up the fronts and simply lock them up the conventional way, which means that linelocks would be only pretty much for burnouts.

I think I may have seen this on NOB's car in a video. I don't think it would be very useful while actually driving, but in the video I saw, NOB used it to do a burnout to heat up his tires before a run. I think it was a button on his dash board or something.

I've never heard of people using linelocks on drift cars, i don't really see the point of them in drifting...but burnouts is a different thing, my dad had linelock on his 69 AMX Javelin, it locked the front wheels up until it hit 5500rpm...good smoke shows...:)

i think i seen the same video...yeah it was on his dash and he just pushed it and it locked up the front...but i dont think they would want to use that to dirft....

As in the Game & RL drift cars would more likely be set up with a braking bias system to tune the braking ratio to suit the driver and weight distribution of the vehicle. IMO the linelock systems are more for drag racing and smoke shows where you just want to warm the tyres or make smoke not cause extra wear and tear on your brake pads.
