link up problems

Hi can any one advice me on linking 2 ps2's together,
we have one set on host (yes) , the other on host (no), and a link cable conectin both of them, but the screen just displays (waiting for conection)!, Help .

If you put the good Network card in to the ps2 that has the one that dosen't and it works, \GOOD\ on the other hand if it doesn't the card is faulty.
