Links go to the OP instead of post origin

On my garage tuning OP, I have an index to link you to the the post that has the car/tuning you want, and it worked very well like that. Now when you select a link on the index , it brings you back to the OP.
It also does that from GT Tune Directory. I've seen this also happen on other tuners directory.
I did some text modification on my OP and my last post, could this have caused the change. I've done this before with no problems. I've reset my Safari browser, I've checked all the threads using the search keyword "link", found some cool stuff but nothing like this.
Can someone please tell me what I did wrong so that I don't do it again, and how to correct it. Do I have to unlink every car/tune post and then link them back to the directory? and then contact XS to redo the links on the GT Tune directory? ( I really hope that there's an option that won't involve other people redoing work they've already done.)
This is just an inconvenience and there is no rush. If I've missed a thread that has this topic please give me the link to the solution. Thank you.

I looked up your account and found this thread which I presume is your tuning garage which you're having trouble with?

Those direct links to the tunes appear to be working correctly. Is there a specific link which isn't working for you?

For the record, the time stamp above each post offers the permanent URL which you want to use.

Hmm, when I clicked on the link to the tune, it just opened up a new page of the OP, and didn't take me to the tune.

Edit: BTW, I'm on my phone. Could that be the problem?

When I click on the link you posted, it takes me directly to the tune. However, if I click on the link in the OP, it doesn't take me to the tune:confused:

I think the problem might be my Safari browser, I just tried it at work on a PC with Explorer and it worked right, came home tried it on my Mac laptop and my I-Mac with safari and it doesn't work, tried it with another laptop with explorer and it worked, tried it with a an I-pad and it worked. I don't know why suddenly it stopped working but it might be simpler to get a new browser. If you know one that should be trouble free for Mac I'm willing to try it.

In reply to SilverFire, yes the right post number is on the link.

Thanks to all of you for looking into this, very appreciated.

Oh, OK, after testing in Safari I see what's going on here.

You've changed the title of the thread since you edited those links in your post, which means the URL of the thread is changed to reflect that update.

Your link goes to:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/fly-me-to-moon-tuning-garage.300916/#post-9284891

The link I used (the current one) is:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/fly-me-to-the-moon-tuning-garage-xkr-s11-seasonal-560pp-sh.300916/#post-9284891

This is not usually a problem, because the server automatically redirects you to the new URL. However, for whatever reason, Safari is stripping the post ID anchor at the end of the URL when its redirected by the server. This doesn't appear to be a problem for other browsers.

There's nothing I can do to fix this problem, but you can simply grab the new links and edit them into your posts (and then just leave the thread title alone in the future). You can also rest easy knowing that this problem was most likely only affecting Mac/Safari users - most other visitors should have no problems getting to those links in your thread.

I'm happy it wasn't me who caused this inconvenience, but it does frustrate me a little (bad bad bad Safari). This is what I will do if it's alright with you; I will keep changing my title thread to so that it announces the latest tuning I do, I think it's better than putting up a new thread every time ( it was also suggested to me to do it that way). I'll redo my OP with a warning for Safari users, when i'll have more than one page I'll write down beside the link on what page the tuning is on. I'll try Firefox or Google Chrome as a new browser.
Thank you for your time and effort, sorry it was long to answer (thursday = 12hour shift), and I have to tell you that I think this Forum is
FABULOUS :cheers::gtplanet:

Actually, I just realized there is another way around this problem, if you're willing to manipulate the URLs just a bit.

Simply note the post ID number, then shorten the URL into the format below. I've highlighted the ID just so it's clear.

Regular format:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/fly-me-to-moon-tuning-garage.300916/#post-9284891

New format:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/posts/9284891

The "new format" URLs will be permanent and should work in your browser regardless of your thread title. Try it: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/posts/9284891

i've just spent the last hour trying, I don't think I'm doing the right procedure, do I change it where you get the URL code ( the number beside the report button), that is not working for me, it won't keep my changes. I've just noted that you have the words at the beginning and end of the phrase, they don't appear on my reading. By trying I ersaed

I've spent the last hour trying, it's not working for me so I must be doing something wrong. I've tried changing the http: code, the only place I could find it was on the left right hand corner of a post beside the report button. It didn't have the words at the beginning and at the end. I made a mistake by erasing part of the URL code at first, had to go check how the others were done and then corrected it. Ended up redoing the link for post 9284891, so that one works. Tried changing the http code on some other post but it does not keep the changes I make. I am not very familiar with links-http-url and it's been long abrupt learning curve, this will definitely help me understand a deal more.
Thanks for your comprehension and help.
