Liscense A-7 Gold : HELP!

I decided to go through and get my golds on the liscenses today.

Nothing's really been hard. B-8 took me about 60 trys, and when I finally passed it the game froze because I tried to delete a memory card file. Luckily I came back and passed it, after I restarted, in about 5 tries.

Breeze all the way to A-7, the right hand, uphill bend on Seattle with a Camaro. First try I get a 14.307, and to get gold you need a 14.2 or less. Keep trying, and getting roughly the same time over and over. Never exceeded 14.3, and only once hitting 14.297.

I CAN NOT GET THE GOLD ON THIS TEST. I keep updating my ghost, but I can't see the damn thing for a comparison until the finish line, at which point I pass myself.

Does anyone have any tips?

Thanks,
Steve-o

Lol. I've completed every GT game since the first one came out. I don't think my overall skill needs improved.

It's the damn Camaro. I try to powerslide around the apex. I try to follow the line, I've tried everything. I've never even driven the Camaro before. Bleh.

My new best is 14.238.

Fine then, it's my lack of experience in the Camaro. :p

I'm looking for tips here, not "Get better". Hell, I could have told my self that.

For example, my idea is to try to powerslide around the apex in attempts to cut time. By doing this, I'm not following the actual guidelines. The guideline includes a pretty hard brake amidst a sharp turn, which useually turns into oversteer late. Using the lines, I oversteer later, loose more speed, and come out of the oversteer later, gaining less speed on the last straight. Going with my technique I can damn near get it... in alot of cases shaving just a tenth of a second would get me the gold.

Damn Camaro and uphill L-Turns.

Well then you've come to the right place then :D, but we do have our arseholes...

I can't really help you there though, I tend to bronze my licenses and leave them at that.

:)

Yeah I had a hard time with this to. Try to get a little oversteer. What I did though was tried breaking and turning at differen't points. Remember the brake is pressure sensitive so when you first start to brake, barely push it and then start to turn and then floor it and you should get a little oversteer. If that doesn't work then try differen't combinations of it. That worked for me.

Also, try to get the front of your car as close as you can to the corner of the turn.

Yeah, I just gave it a shot. It got pretty ugly. I got 14.202 and 14.203 once. It's pretty difficult trying to squeeze those few extra milliseconds out of that 1 turn. I finally got 14.185 in the end after going at it for 50 minutes straight.
Within those 14 some seconds, you're asked to do several things in a very tightly packed sequence. First, the angle you enter the test in is not aligned with the road. Your first task is to get the car as close to the rail as possible without touching and align the car to the road with as few corrections as possible. If your digital speedometer is right over the blue line, you're fine. Next, you're to brake to just the right speed, immediately pull to the right, then hit the accelerator. Watch the demo. You'll notice a subtle steer opposite of the turn just before the brake. This is to get the car further from the turn before turning in. This is optional in my opinion. But if you want to try for it, it might give you a better time. The 2 things to watch for though: 1. As you're sliding through the turn, you should see 62 or 63 mph on your digital speedometer. 2. Your speedometer should be riding the blue line throughout the turn. If you're to the left you're too fast, if you're to the right you're too slow. Remember the sequence of events: Brake, turn, gas. You'll notice in the demo there's a small gap between the time the brake is let go and the time the accelerator is on. Finally, your ghost won't do you any good while you're racing here. It's a distraction at best. It is useful when you play the demo while you have a ghost. It will show you how you deviated from the line and how you lost time. Because it is such a short test, you have to absolutely get it perfect for a gold, unfortunately. Good luck.

Don't feel bad. This test took me about 3 days of constant playing to nail. You just have to keep working away at it. I recommend you try to follow the line exactly.

If it matters, I did it in an automatic too.

This test and the one in the zonda @ rome test are the only two that actually took me any time to gold. Golding S8 took less time.

I have 6 Golds :p
And 11 Silver :D
And I'm stuck and I can't get any further.

So think yourself lucky you got that far with ease :p

I got gold in all but Rally(did rally a while ago)in about four days. But I did have about 4 golds already. The problems I had were with this one, the miata for super license, the lancer at Tokyo, and prob a couple more but I can't remember. But if you just got the game then I would just go for bronze then play the game a lot then go back to the license. When I first got the game I had trouble with bronze but that was 5 months ago and now I have all golds and had no problems getting silvers.

Yeh, I hate that test sooo much... I can never get gold on it either...:irked:

Hey thanks for the advice everyone. I havn't played it since my last post, but I'll try later tonight.

I guess I'll stick with Automatic for this one, even though it only shifts twice - once into third and once into second.

Brandono - I've owned this game for about a year and a half. I'm a little past 90% complete. I only have the endurance races, liscenses, Zonda Cup Race (Italiana Avante Guarde or whatever), and the time trials to go. (Plus like 3 more Pro races that I skipped in a series.). Ohh yea - and I have to complete "Hard" on Arcade mode - but that's not hard at all. :)

Thanks again.
