I had an idea to make a reference list for people who want to "update" GT1 by playing that game's cars and tracks in GT5. I have done my best to match the cars as closely to GT1's release year (1998), and their stats in both games, as possible. If anything seems incorrect or missing, please feel free to comment here and I will edit this OP as necessary. :)

Much of the information I used to make the list came from the GT1 Reference Manual, which is one of the two booklets included with the game. I also used the following web pages:
Official GT5 Car List
GTP's GT1 Car List
myGranTurismo.net GT5 Car List

Nice job man! 👍

However, I think you are missing the C2 Vette that is available only on Arcade mode... 💡

Thank you! I checked and it seems that Corvette 427 Coupe (GTP's list says it is '67) isn't in GT5. The GT1 car has a raised engine cover and none of the GT5 cars have that. Also, the GT1 car's HP is much higher than the other C2 cars.

also dont forget the Miata RS which is an arcade-only car aswell

Thank you! Roadster 1.8 RS (NB) '98. I overlooked that one. I'll edit the OP in a few minutes.

You are missing the Dodge Viper GTS and Nissan NISMO GT-R LM Road Car

MoLiEG is correct about the Viper. None of the GT1 cars were newer than 1998. :)

As for the Nismo car, the one in GT1 was specifically for LM racing and had 660 HP. The GT-R LM Road Version in this game has a different paint scheme (plain, no sponsors) and only 306 HP stock. The weights are different (GT1's is around 1150 kg while the Road Version is 1580 kg). Even a fully tuned GT5 version would not have stats close to the GT1 car. These differences are why I felt it would be best to leave the Nismo out of the list.

I appreciate the post! 👍

OK I GOT IT Mazda RX-7 LM Edition both in GT1 and GT5

I checked that too when I first made the list and no, they are not the same car. The RX-7 bodies and the names are the same but the green color, sponsor stickers, airfoil, and weight are all different. That goes for both the regular LM and A-spec versions of the car in GT1.

Well, since we're starting to split hairs here on specifics, I don't think that the Sprinter Trueno (AE86) used in GT1 is the same year as the one used from GT3 onwards. While the latter model is a 1983 Trueno, the one used in GT1 looks like it's from the post-facelift years, like an '86 or an '87.

Here's what I mean.

Here's an '83 model. (Ignore the fog-lights)

And here's a post-facelift model. (1986/1987)

While they are indeed AE86's, they aren't the same year, and there is a visual difference. The post-facelift model was used in GT1 (and GT2 if I remember correctly), and the '83 model was used from GT3 onwards.

Thank you for your detailed post Irons. You know what? I agree with you. The description in the GT1 game says the car came out in '83 but doesn't state explicitly that it is THE '83 model. The body in GT1 is indeed the 1986 facelift. Weight and HP for the GT1 and GT5 cars are slightly different too. I have drawn a strike through in the OP to reflect the change.

But the Roadgoing Nismo GT-R is in GT1.

The naming of the road and race versions of the Nismo GT-R are identical, but the race version is one you can buy, the road version is the one you win in one of the SSR11 enduros.

You also missed the Nismo 400R from the list

Winnable from all golds on the IA license.

I do really want every single racer from GT1 back in GT5 in exactly identical form. None more so than the red CR-X del sol LM.

Nice work that's where my love for gt games started 

Thanks, I try. :)

Thank you, I didn't realize in GT1 the GT-R LM Road one has the same appearance as the one in GT5. I owe DurWinning an apology then. :guilty:

I must have overlooked the 400R somehow, thanks for that also! 👍 The original list has been updated.

I like the CR-X too! Probably the fact it was a fictional car is why it hasn't been converted to GT5 yet...

This is nice, but the Standard cars in GT5 are from GT4 and GTPSP, so you're point is moot. Besides, you could do this with Forza 1 and Forza 4 and you'd come up with an equally long list...only Forza 4's cars actually came from Forza 1. Sure they've been upgraded through the years, but, they're still FM1 cars. GT4 cars weren't GT1 cars. They were constantly remodeled from the ground up, which is why it took so long for GT4 to come out after GT3.

:indiff: The point of the list is to identify the cars that have appeared in both games. It doesn't matter if the cars were originally modeled for GT1 or GT4/GTPS. It may to you, but not to me and not to the other people who have posted or contributed in this thread.

Following your line or argument, the Ferrari F10 car in GT5 and the Ferrari F10 in Codemasters' F1 2010 would be "different" just because they were rendered and coded by different people for different games!
