Because the fad originated in Japan and that's what they have there? It's like asking why Gran Turismo has 5 bajillion versions of the Mazda Miata and no Ford Thunderbird.

Correction, it's because many of them are made by JDM fanboys who don't care about other cars. The Japanese are all over american cars. They just need to get out more.

There should actually be a thread for them in the Graphic Arts and Image Editing forum. We used to modify them, make our own and have competitions back in '03 and then the Pixel Car (then-Manga Car) craze took over.
