The long awaited Collateral Collision is finally here, which marks our first ever venture into LFS movie making.

Pushing the boundaries of the racing simulation Live For Speed, Collateral Collision is the result of a huge collaborative effort from the Live For Speed community, along with my dedicated passion for movie car chases. Our aim was simple - to deliver the most authentic representation of a movie car chase that was physically possible within the realms of a machinima film.

As a result, Collateral Collision was a hugely ambitious project, with incredibly long filming times and editing sessions. Not a second that you see has been overlooked and every sound you hear has been meticiously dubbed from other sources. To say the least, a tremendous amount of effort has been put into this project, in terms of both the filming and the editing.

To put it simply, we feel that Collateral Collision is the most definitive and comprehensive machinima car chase experience, which aims to mimic the likes of car chase staples such as Gone in 60 Seconds, Bullitt and Ronin.

As a lone driver sets off, little does he know that another malicious driver is about to give pursuit, with dire consequences that result in a grueling chase sequence of life and death. Think of it as Duel meets Grindhouse: Death Proof.

Enjoy.

why are there no posts here?

this is awesome! well worth the download, loved every second.
motorway sequence was perfect, the mini flip was spot on action movie, and i loved the stereotypical porsche driver, who spins into a wall at the first sign that their cars performance might actually help them.

only negatives where LFS glitches, cars with damage before impact, and knotchy steering removed from realism, but the driving, the camera work, and the extras where perfect, and more than made up for it, it even had good damage continuation, and i loved the sequencing of all the different tracks, they blended really well.

where there 2 main drivers doing the chase with everyone else as extras, or did everyone kinda take turns?
how many takes do you think you had to do, and how long did this whole project take?
are you guys the only people doing this, or am i missing out on a whole genre of entertainment here?

are you guys making a part 2, or another like this?!?

sorry i rambled a bit, but wow.

This was pretty damn good. I think there are no posts because LFS doesn't seem to be that big around here. I know the LFSForums had a big thread about this video.

this was an amazing video
very organized
and lfs its great game
i have the demo at almost 2years and im not tired because its good to play online

Thanks for your responses! Sorry I haven't checked in here since I posted this. To answer your questions, yes there were 2 main drivers (myself and a friend) for the chase cars and then a host of extras for the additional traffic. It was really a case of whoever could turn up on the day. Each scene took multiple takes and the project took almost a year in total and I'm pretty sure this hasn't been attempted before in a machinima of this scale.

There are currently no plans to make another as I feel I did everything I could for Collateral Collision, but I have made a bonus video since then comparing the film to real movie influences:

I saw this a while back, my opinion "Holy Hell"

This was an amazing movie, looked like it took a while to make, looking at the video that shows the fails.

I'm gonna download this. It's been a while since I played LFS so it will probably bring back some nostalgic feelings.
