Anyone else hate constantly having to look behind you to check where you're opponent is and to watch his moves? Even if I had the playstation eye, I'd probably find it annoying to move my head while holding my eyes steady to check the mirrors all the time.
Well, how about this:
We have a grid position indicator on the side of our screen that simply tells us a position, not a time. What if that indicator had the +/- split time on it? It'd make the racing a lot easier, cleaner, and realistic since in a real race, you have someone speaking to you over the radio on how other drivers are doing.
Basically, you could see that the two drivers behind you are 3 seconds off your pace and are battling each other, which would let you know you don't have to push and risk the lead since they will be progressively slower than you as the battle. Same works the other way around. If the drivers are a turn or two ahead of you, you'll see they are battling and you can push a bit harder to catch them.
It could also work when someone crashes. If you suddenly see the time of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place drivers go from -2.xxx/-3.xxx/-4.xxx to -12.xxx/-13.xxx/-14.xxx you'd know there was an accident ahead/behind you.
I don't know if this has been brought up before but it's something I find to be a possibly very benoficial thing to racing in the game, even more so online.
