Can't believe there's not a thread on this already!!

I've been watching and after only 2 acts ( U2 and Coldplay) all I can say is wow!!! awesome stuff.

I'm a bit envious of the crowd, but at least I get a good view and a comfy seat here at home 👍

Anyone else watching this?

Yeah i've been wondering why there wasn't one.

Been watching it all so far, it's been awesome. Coldplay and the Verve's singer performing Bitter Sweet Symphony was pretty special.

Just saw Elton John with freaking Pete Doherty. Such a strange combination.

Looks like it's gonna be a pretty cool gig all in.

Bah! The only live airing of it here is on one of the channels I don't have.

Looks liks I'll be buying the DVD (or obtaining it via other methods). :grumpy:

U2 was pretty good; they're much better live than in studio. They were pretty good with Paul McCartney. I thought Coldplay was pretty boring except for Bittersweet Symphony; that was really well done.

I can't wait until Deep Purple, Motley Crue, The Tragically Hip, The Who, and Paul McCartney come on. Oh yeah, and that little band called Pink Floyd is supposed to be performing. ;)

Besides, raising money normally means the money raised ends up going to the warlords who are screwing up Africa in the first place. That's pretty much what happened with Live Aid.

Nah, it's supposed to raise awareness, which it is. Unfortunately, I doubt Dubyah is going to have any of his opinions changed because artists like A-ha wants debt to be ended in Africa...

But to be honest, the only reason I care about this is because of the Pink Floyd reunion.

Looking forward to Pink Floyd and Velvet Revolver 👍

I need to find some sort of schedule so i know when each band is on.

Travis and Razorlight were pretty much the best so far for me 👍

Looking forward to Pink Floyd later tonight with Waters and Gilmour back together again 👍 👍 👍 👍 ...... cant wait

Oh yeah Bob singing the old Boomtown Rats classic was pretty cool also :)
shame I was out and missed U2 at the start 👎

Bring on the Greats :) 👍 ... and send Robbie back home also 💡

Back to the show
Laters ;)

Deep Purple just finished up in Barrie, they were simply amazing. Best band so far; they played Highway Star, Smoke On The Water, and Hush. Ian Gillan doesn't sound quite as good as he did in the '70s, but he still sounds great. And the band... still one of the best live bands in the world.

*EDIT* Holy crap, Celine Dion just finished her video message from Las Vegas... what a tool. That had to have been the most phony thing I have ever seen in my life! I mean, she's trying to make it look like she gives a damn, but she can't make the effort to come from Las Vegas and perform in person. But, I don't think she could stand the audience booing her; they booed loud enough (and rightly so) at her pathetic video. And now, for what sums this up perfectly...

Celine Dion is 10000 times more talented than Linkin Park, I know that and I don't even like her music.
Linkin Park play their own instruments (albeit half assedly). That alone makes them much more talented than Celine. She is probably the most useless act to ever come out of Canada.

I just saw the Linkin Park performance on tv and they only confirmed their lack of talent to me. Watered down rock, with a rapper who has nothing to say and a singer with a monotonous voice, who sounds the same on every damn song.

I never said I like Celine Dion, but at least she can sing. She is a singer, she isn't a band, so that's why she doesn't play her own instruments.

On the flipside, at least Linkin Park write their own music. Any jackass with a good voice can get up on a stage and sing someone else's song.

And besides, there have been plenty of good vocalists who also played instruments. Jimi Hendrix is an extremely underrated vocalist in my opinion.

Yeah, Alicia Keys is on tv right now and she is more talented than Celine Dion and Linkin Park together.

And the same can be said about Velvet Revolver before that, they might be junkies but at least they know how to make music.
