I'm quite new to all this so I may be being a complete Muppet.

I have a half finished livery, it is on the car, it is also a saved style,

I go to livery editor, press open design and the design appears in my list, highlight it and select, then prompts apply or edit, select edit, it opens the edit screen, low and behold the thumbnail top right shows the livery, however the rotating car is completely blank of any livery,

Press decals and there is nothing there, please please please tell me I'm just being the aforementioned Muppet and I'm just doing it wrong.

I think it's a bug. Try to restart the console.
If it doesn't work, there's a workaround on the GT website as well ;)

Found a work around but only if you've saved the livery.

Rather than 'edit livery' press create instead, it then gives you the option to use an existing livery. Open your old livery and edit away.
The only "problem" with this is that you create multiple same liveries
This bug was supposed to have been fixed in the 1.07/1.08 debacle last week.
i can confirm that it's not fixed.
still have to delete data before i start playing / editing.

Good Day, after the update 1.08 several of my livery thumbnails went black. If you select a blank blacked out design, you will loose the livery and the car returns to its original appearance. I'm going back into the editor and re saving about 20 designs saved in GT 7 that went blank. If l go back to GT Sport livery editor all of my designs are no longer in the editor. They are in my library. When opening GTS it says not connected to server. But, I can receive and give comments. That can't be possible if I'm not connected. I Can also game save. Any suggestions on how to recover those lost liveries? Thanks.

Delete your saved data before loading the game.
You might have to close game and delete data for each livery tho

Hi I am having this problem. A few of my liveries that I spent hours on are blank when I try to edit. Is there a work around for this? I have read that deleting save files works will this delete any important data I have on the game? Thanks

It's a bug. When this happens, I just go to "create new based on existing style", then save that as something new and delete the old one.

You can delete saved data. That won't change anything in your progression. I do it multiple times a day for the same problem.
Your solution works @R1600Turbo only if the livery is already applied to the car.

I'm having the same problem as well with some of my liveries. Not all, but now I'm afraid to open up any others thinking I might lose another one.

I'm not sure about the delete thing.
 If you delete your saved data, how is it still there?

What actually gets deleted when you delete saved data?

Really nervous about that. I figure I've lost 10 to 12hrs of work over this issue, I don't wish to lose anymore.

I hope the April update fixes this.

All but about 5 of my saved livery files have corrupted in the same way - there's no thumbnail, and when I open the file it has the base paint but no decals. I've been able to save most of them by using the 'create from existing style' workaound but there were a few that weren't on cars at the time and so those are now fully lost as far as I can tell. Reeaaallly glad i bought three minis to put a different one on each the other day.

Alarmingly 'arbitrary livery file corruption' doesn't seem to be on the known issues list they posted on the 29th so I don't even know if they know about it

Delete temporary data ingame and all game data in the setting as mentioned before. Nothing will happen to your savegames or anything.

I did have a nose around and couldn't find the option - could you be a bit more specific on where I should go? (it took me two days to find where to turn ABS off, i don't seem to get on very well with this game's UI)

Temporary data is under settings/network, game data is somewhere in the PS' settings under storage

I'm having an issue where it's loading half the livery. It has appeared to keep all of the decals on the bonnet (Body 2) and on the front end, but the rest are lost.

They can still be seen on the thumbnail

But disappear when the livery is loaded.

No amount of resets, temporary data and saved data deletions have solved this. Kind of dejected and can't really be bothered restarting until this is fixed, now I don't trust it.

Open the livery to edit, if there are a bunch of "empty" decals applied to the car and they were made by someone else that person most likely deleted them

Sorry, were you responding to me?

Unfortunately this isn't the case - I uploaded all of the decals I used myself. They all displayed fine last night.

Hmm that's odd. Do you have the non-broken livery applied to the car? If yes you can create a new livery based on it and should be able to fix it.
If you load it into the editor, are the missing decals still in the list? If yes try to replace them with the ones they're supposed to be.

Unfortunately not, it defaulted to the original RAYBRIG one.

The missing decals are completely gone from the list when I attempt to load it - a combination of decals I uploaded, and also a lot of generic shapes I had used to fill in awkward areas of the car.

Created a livery based on one of my older ones for the GTP comp, saving it straight away as it’s own livery.

Did about 3 hours work on it, saved it then went to do real life stuff.

Came back, the thumbnail displays exactly where I was up too, but once opened, it reverts to how it was when I started it.

Create from existing doesn’t work. Deleting network cache doesn’t work. Restarting console doesn’t work. Deleting save data from console doesn’t work.

Still the thumbnail shows exactly where I was up to, still it opens up my base livery.

Am I just plain 🤬 or ?

I think you just need to edit and apply again.

I'm having a similar problem and wondering if someone can check for me. I have a saved and shared style that renders correctly with all decals when I preview it in the Showroom, but when I load the style in GT Auto most of the decals are missing. Will I need to re-apply the decals and re-share the livery or is it just a bug in GT Auto?

The livery in question is here.

Probably the decals that are missing have been deleted from GT's server.
The missing decals were shared when I shared the livery and they're still showing in my gallery. Maybe something broke during a server update or something. I'm hoping it's just a glitch in the livery editor and the livery still works OK for other users.
