Hi ya,
i know this is off-topic bit it really interests me  , while reading in the forum i saw that some people do live in Hong Kong. At the moment i am working for IBM and i am very interested in going to Asia for example Hong Kong to work there. Originally i am from Germany. I guess u guys moved to Hong Kong from another country as well. If u would let me know something about how u guys went there and where is the best place to get infos on jobs for foreign people and how u like it there, i would highly appreciate that.

Thanks in advance

Hello, and welcome to GTP

I think that most of the HK posters on this forum are originally from HK. I'm not too sure about how you can find a job here, but I guess you could look on the South China Morning Post website for jobs, or something similar. I think they have a lot of jobs for people outside HK. Hope that helps ;)

PS I think the mods will move this to another forum...

it's not easy to get a job in HongKong now,Because of the bad economic state. And you can't speak chinese. It will be hard for you to live in hongkong.

Wholly disagree with that, ChinaGTboy. It's far TOO easy to get buy without knowing any Chinese, especially if a person was to come out here and live within the ex-pat community. If you want to learn Cantonese it's more difficult because there's no pressure to have to speak it. The general level of English in HK is also quite good, plus many people are keen to learn more and more English.

I agree with chaser fan... while there's tons of room for the improvement of english here, I think many non-canto speakers can still get by since a lot of people here can at least speak a bit of simple english (even the cabbies)...

on a sidenote, chaserfan, will the new Kelly Chan video feature footage of GT4 or is it just for the Asian Game Show? I take the MTR so I haven't had the chance to see it yet...

hm, i am originated from HK but I've met foreigners from Europe and North America. It seems that they can find jobs easier than pure locals. You can check out jobsdb.com or jobasia.com or just look for companies that are expanding from your domestic market to asia. Good luck!
