I have used the search facilities but couldn't findt the answer I was looking for..

A lot of people go ona bout street racing cars, Group C cars and LMP cars.. But as somebody who doesn't understand, can somebody please give me an example of what the hellan LMP car is, what a Group C car is and so on??

And also, where on GT4 does it show this??

thanx.

LMP = Le Mans Prototype. Examples would be Audi R8, Bentley Speed 8

Group C cars were simply a category of cars that raced in the 80s-90s. Examples would be Sauber C9 and Jaguar XJR-15

I don't know if it shows this in GT4 anywhere...

edit: You might also have seen talk of JGTC cars. JGTC (Japanese Grand Touring Championship) is a touring car series based in Japan. There are two classes, GT500 and GT300. The 500 class has a horsepower limit for the cars at 500hp. Examples in GT4 of GT500 cars would be the Xanavi GT-R and the numerous racing Supras and NSXs... The GT300 class has a horsepower limit of 300bhp. I can't remember the names of the cars, but there are a few GT300 cars in GT3. There's an RX-7 and an MR-S I think. In real life there's a Ferrari 360 :)

Examples of the GT300 cars are the ARTA Garaiya and Wedsport Celica.

Ain't the Toyota Super Autobacs Apex MR-S a GT300 car also? I could be wrong. Like someone cared, but I would wan't a confirmation on that.

The Mazda6, or Atenza, as it is called in the above post, Touring Car is not designated as a GT300 car in the game, although it is listed at 310 HP.

Whats the deal with the LM race cars that are based on production cars then? Is there even somewhere you can race them?

Do you mean the race cars like the RX-8 LM Race car that's painted up like the 787B (orange/green) or the 350Z Concept LM Race Car (red/white/blue)? If so, you can race those pretty much anywhere, with Sports tires if they're required, or Racing tires if not.

These are the "dream" cars. They don't exist in real life. They're fantasy cars conjured up by the PD guys for fun. (Same with the Super Touring Cars.)

They have their own championship in the Extreme hall. but like ktaylor57 said, you can race them anywhere.

the LMP cars are new le mans cars created with todays strict rules and 900Kg weight limit, the Group C's were from the mad era of racing in the late 80's, there were no power of weight limits, just a restriction on the amount of fuel you may use over the race distance, thus we saw the rediculously powerfuul(88C-V 919hp) and the rediculously light(905-750Kg), this seiries was destroyed when the rules changed stating that engines could be based on formula 1 units makeing the cars frightfully fast but overly expensive, this lead to the GT1 class of the Panoz, toyta Gt1, R390, and Clk Gtr
