OK. Another question. Last night I won the RX-7 LM Race Car. A pretty fine car if you ask me, and it certainly looks the part. But what does LM stand for? I thought it could be Le Mans, but then I never remember seeing cars like that at the 24 hour race in France. Is that what it stands for, or does it stand for something else?

Le Mans

LiMited edition

Limited Model (my personal choice)

No one has actually done the research to see what Poliphony says it stands for.

LM cars that are not real
RX7-LM
ALTEZZA ZM Race Car
S2000 LM
FT0 LM
IMPREZA LM

There may be cars that look simmilar (I.E HKS Altezza, JGTC Cusco Impreza) but these LM cars ARE fake

Every car in GT3 exists.

I would wager on LeMans. It's only one of the most respected and premier endurance races in the world, besides which, any of these cars would be able to race at LeMans, or the American LeMans series. Limited Model and LiMited edition just don't make the sense that LeMans does.

Limited model,

meaning it is made in small numbers i think!

race cars are special of course!

It's not Le Mans, I watched that darn race, and there was no RX-7, Impreza, or S2000 in it! Anyone actually want to find out...?

And, "Limited Edition?" Yeah, that starts with "L" and "E..."

Yeah - most of the make-believe LM spec cars have boot mounted exhaust outlets.

If memory serves the JGTC Castrol Supra runs one as well.

I would be inclined to think the LM stands for Le Mans - I think the idea is that in that spec they could run at Le Mans (like the NSXs Supras and GT-Rs that ran there in the mid '90s under the LM GT1 rules.

While the cars are made up (although may pass resmbalance to real cars) I am pretty sure LM stands for Le Mans. As has been said already, it is known all over the world as a premier automotive event. Polyphony would therefore make the car to look like they could be entered for Le Mans and give it a name to match. The little figure of eight on the back of the car is in fact where the fuel nozzle goes:)

The LM thing started in GT with the FTO LM, RX-7 LM and the CRX LM. The guys in Polyphony digital Really liked the CRX del sol and the FTO. But they werent powerfull enough so they made the cars lighter, changed drive chain and made a snazzy racing body for them. Basically they are Polyphony Digtals versions of Hibrids. I read this in an iterview with the creator of Gran Turismo in the official PSOne mag a while back.
