I know many here say Speed only shows NASCAR, and they do mostly, but I'm quite happy that they show highlights of FIA GT and LMES every so often (I record them on my PVR), and they've also shown every single MotoGP event so far (and qualifying for them sometimes too), and they've also shown all the GP2 races all year long, plus the best commentary and coverage of Formula 1.

Too bad no WRC or V8 Supercars or SuperGT coverage. I watch a lot of Max Power (Fox Sports World) which is a highlights show of motorsport only and they show a lot of V8 Supercars, British Rally, LMES, Isle of Man events and other rally events around the world.

Thanks, MustangSVT! I always forget to check out what's on SPEED these days. I missed the last part of the SPEED GT Championship because of this. Oh well.

The last round of the Speed GT championship (Laguna Seca) was on a replay today (in a few hours from now on). If you're still home, you can record it.

I have classes later today and an exam tonight, so I won't be able to see it today.

I'll be checking the schedule by the end of the week for a replay of any race. I've missed too many races recently. The only racing I've seen recently is ALMS Laguna Seca and the end of the F1 season. I need something to get me by during the long wait for the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring. :indiff:

They do show some BTCC, V8 Supercars and DTM. At least they did last winter. I'm quite happy with SPEED to be perfectly honest. Also, if you want to watch full coverage of LMS or FIA GT races you can buy them for $1.99 on the web. www.speedondemand.com for more info.

Things have changed since last year. Last year they showed BTCC, DTM, F1 Decade and Legends of Motorsport as well as WRC. Never saw V8 Supercars myself. Unfortunately, I only got a PVR this summer. If I'd of gotten one earlier, I would have seen a lot more.

Oh goodies. Something to watch. I havent see the race for a long time. The last time i saw was old 70's F1 race around at my grandpa's house.

Classic. Cant wait to watch this weekend.

I saw the listing for the Nurburgring race but I didn't know about the others. Thanks for the info Mustang SVT. When does Max Power come on?

Max Power is on channel Fox Sports World in Canada (or Fox Soccer Channel in US) and also on this channel called MenTV. They show older highlights of stuff like V8 Supercars, Touring Car Championships, Isle of Man competitions, British Rally, Asian Rally, SuperGT, and other older highlights from like F1 and such (Rossi Ferrari test, stuff like that). It comes on like every monday during the day and monday night. If you have Fox Sports World or Fox Soccer Channel and are a motorsport fan, I suggest recording this on your PVR (or VCR) or whatever since it's usually during odd times when I'm not at home, but it's a cool motorsport show, always interesting highlights from around the world. Like just recently, they showed highlights of the final race from 2005 V8 Supercars and how Russell Ingall won the championship.

Thanks for the info. I have Fox soccer channel and I think I have Mens Tv. I will checking the listings on the dish network for the next tiem it comes on .

thanks alot for this info:tup: . I have not seen any Sportscar Racing on Speed channel from the FIA since 2003(which I have taped by the way)and I've been trying to find the LMES Schedule.

They're actually only highlights of the specified races. However, they are pretty informing (covers all the interesting stuff of the race), good commentary and like you said, better than nothing. I've seen a few of these highlight shows so far and I've liked them so far. If you do have Fox Soccer Channel or MenTV though, I really suggest watching Max Power when you get the chance (put it on record on the PVR). It's what I watch to get some taste of motorsport (since you can't get that much coverage around here).

Also some more news (think will make quite a few people happy). According to Speed's site, they'll be showing some A1 Grand Prix later this year as well.

Netherlands
Wed, Dec 6 4:00PM
Czech Republic
Wed, Dec 13 4:00PM
China
Wed, Dec 20 4:00PM
Malaysia
Wed, Dec 27 4:00PM

Not sure if this is the new upcoming season. May just be replays of the season that just ended. Doesn't matter anyway, I only ever got to watch like 4 of these when they were webcasting them. Will be nice to finally get them on TV.

I think the A1 GP has actually started its second season just recently. I recall seeing a thread in this section relating to being able to watch coverage of the event online. Not sure though, I'd have to check and make sure.

Yeah, I'm pissed at SPEED for that decision, to put on some pansy-ass FiA GT instead of V8 Supercars, the V8's are full of WAY more action and better racing than the FiA GT series.

I'm in the FIA GT camp (at least for the 2006 season as some apparent rules changes have turned me off for '07). I just don't understand why on a Saturday morning I'm watching NEXTEL CUP HAPPY HOUR(?!) instead of BTCC, V8 Super Cars, DTM, LMS, FIA GT, IMSA GT3 Cup, IMSA Lights, Spec Miata, various SCCA Run-Offs events, AGT Races, SCCA GT-1 events, classic Formula 1 races, classic CART races, 24 Hours of Nurburgring synopsis shows... and the list goes on. Well, I guess I do Nextel, All State Insurance, and the big money sponsors want NASCAR T.V. time because NASCAR will get bigger audiences than the other events... or so they think (I doubt it). Oh well, that is life. We should be thankful we still get some non-NASCAR coverage on SPEED.

I have just found some more FIA GT races:
Nov 29
Oeschersleben 12:00 PM, 3:00 AM
Belgium 1:00 PM, 4:00 AM
Dec 6
France 12:00 PM, 3:00 AM
Dijon 1:00 PM, 4:00 AM

and if anyone is interested, I also found two German Touring Car Races and a British Touring Car Championship race:
German Touring Car
Dec 4
Hockenheim 1:00 PM, 4:00 AM
Dec 11
Lauzitz 1:00 PM

BTCC
Dec 11
Mondell Park 12:00 PM

Ah! Glad we get DTM from Lausitz. Not exactly a Spa or Imola but in its own right a very character filled interesting circuit. (Having driven on it in video games I rather like its infield layout.)

Cheers,

LMES on Speed is pathetic

First there is the annoying announcer

Then he proceeds to spend 10 minutes of the 60 minute show recaping the last LMES race

Next, he spends 10 minutes of the 60 minute show interviewing drivers.

Next, 10 minutes of the show is devoted to practice.

Next, 10 minutes of the show is devoted to qualifying.

The last 15 minutes is spent on the actual race, and most of the footage is pistops, spins or interviews.

Worst thing they did was focus so little on the actual race.

They shouldnt show us some highlights months after the race but rather the entire 1000km race LIVE.

V8Supercars is back on at Speed, I'm happy now, go watch your pansy-ass FiA GT.

Why don't you say that to the "pansy-ass" drivers that drive for hours inside an overheated cockpit. Or the "pansy-ass" race engineers and mechanics that stay up all night before a race to rebuild their car wrecked during practice. Or the "pansy-ass" fans that stay out in the rain to watch some incredible racing. Or the "pansy-ass" kids at home watching their dream cars racing side-by-side on the television.

Just because you prefer one discipline of motorsport over another, you have no reason to belittle it.

Actually man, I'm just having a little fun, I love watching the FiA GT Championship, its some OK racing, although, they need the let the Maserati MC12's have their full width wing back.

Have now watched all the Le Mans Series highlights. Was quite nice, the Pescarolo ran away with it once again. Unlike that guy above, I really liked the highlights and the announcer and the way they show it. I don't have time to watch a 6 hour race, let alone qualifying and all the behind the race action. The highlights condense it into an hour long thing and I like that.

Been also watching some FIA GT, the Brno race was especially exciting.

Also some news. Speed will be showing BTCC action and also DTM, just check your local listing if you have a Cable/Sattelite box and set them to record on your PVR (what I did). I haven't found V8 Supercars yet, hopefully they will show some of that too.

It's already been confirmed, they are under A though in the listing, for Australian, rather than V.

Yea my bad. I saw it on there but it was empty so I was kinda worried. It says this

"See it all on SPEED Channel beginning December 26." for Aussie V8 Supercars. Can't wait. I will record everything on my Digital PVR. So far I've seen the whole season of LMES through highlights, was quite nice, and it looks like Speed will show the highlights of each FIA GT race (these highlights cover the actual race a lot more than the LMES highlights), and there's DTM and BTCC highlights and then V8 Supercars. I couldn't be happier with Speed at the moment since I was worried I'd get a boring winter. However, no WRC this year has been disappointing and has made me try and find WRC coverage from Eurosport on torrents.

Just got home and what was on my TiVO? BTCC and DTM from Speed! I'm about to take a look at them. I'm really psyched as BTCC and DTM have slowly crept into my favorite series' list.

Both shows were enjoyable. Each of the co-commentators (as opposed to the "host" of the show) were good.
