Never ever ever ever ever !
Just before the start of 2012 back in November 2011 I can't seem to see or hear other players on track but will see them in the lobby with loading lines under their names. I wonder if anyone else has had this?

This affects others where cars are missing on track which causes me and others to leave the lobby and return sometimes fixing the prob but most times with no change. I have contacted my internet provider who have sped up my connection but still no fix when playing online in GT5. I don't have this prob with any other game but GT5.

Please tell me if anyone else is going through this.

I experience it too. It pretty much mean that your connection is bad and you'll likely get disconnected soon.

I never get disconnected but I do think it's a compatibility issue that GT5 have decided not to fix which is a pain.

NOTE: This only happens with certain players, not with all.

I'm almost certain its not an issue with you but rather an issue with the person who you can't see. In other words "It's not you, it's them".

People's upload speeds play a HUGE factor in gaming, if someone doesn't have a fast enough upload speed, it will cause issues for others. Issues like, not seeing them, their car glitching, slowing down rooms upon entering and exiting etc. Another thing is their NAT type, not all NAT types are compatible with everyone and will cause the same issues as someone with low upload speed.

I would love PD to implement some sort of icon that displays every user's connection status/strength, that is present in the room/lobby, for everyone to see. This will help in solving most, if not all, issues. It will help the host "toss the bad apples" and keep the room running smoothly.

I've experienced this a few times while watching Drift Comps, there would be one or two people who I can't see. They would usually get disconnected.

I used to see this problem all the time. At the time I had my PS3 wired to my router and I had a pretty reliable 3Mbps / 768kbps connection.

To fix the issue I setup a static IP for my PS3 in my router and put my PS3 in a DMZ. http://forums.station.sony.com/dcuops3/posts/list.m?topic_id=10560

I also switched ISP's at about the same time and I haven't seen the loading line problem since.
