Today my dad took his 300ZX into a dealership for a compression test to be done on the car. So he was left with the problem of how to get back. They went to get him a loan car for the day which was going to be a Vauxhall Cavalier, but as it had already been given out to another customer all they had left was this new part exchange car in for him to drvie for the day.
I don't think you can get much better than this for a loan car  . Ok be it was the baby skyline it still got a move on. Although having said that I think the ride was worse than that of the 300ZX, the turbo made a really annoying whistling sound all the time, nothing I've heard before (maybe the turbo was modded?), wasn't as quick (yes he did gun it occasionally :) ) as the 300ZX, and it didn't fell as torquay as the 300 (needed revs). Still I think it was one hell of a loan car. Beets a Vauxhall Cavalier :D .

And to think we got a Vauxhall Corsa for a loan car. It is top of the range, but even so.

Why can't all loan cars be like that?

Pah. (Me? Jealous? Never. :) )

This car was definatly an import, and the delearship had just got it imported. BTW anyone know where I can get some figures for this thing? I've tried looking, but nothing decent yet.

I know. I was a little taken a back when we were given it. Although it was slightly dodgy in the fact it didn't have road tax :odd: . Though as great as the skyline was, I thought it was going to be a lot better than what it was :odd: . My dad said the driving position was acqward and the cabin was just plain nasty. Though it was quite funny to watch a bald fat man with a beer belly a no dress sense get out of a riced up skyline (tactfully done riced up skyline.)

That's even worse than the skoda. No wait, that's a hell of a lot better.

What car you got then and how much you pay for insurance? I'm hoping for a Clio 1.4 for my first :) .

Damn right. Exactly what I meant. Trust you to come along and point something out like that :p . Anything else you'd like to point whilst you're viewing my post :irked: :p .

Edit: Plus why are you still up at this time of night????
I have an excuse, I've just come in from teh pub (be it a couple of hours ago.):D

RB25DET (single turbo) 245hp versus RB26DETT (twin turbo) 280 on the GTR, only RWD, so no Atessa... not as fun, not as fast, BUT it's still a skyline :D

Moi? No. I turn 17 on March 3rd (careful note there people ... hint hint), then I get my provisional license through, so it won't be a couple of months until I will have my full license. So I'm just going to have to be passanger for now :( .

Whoa whoa whoa!!! You're 18 and you have a Nissan Skyline GTR :odd:  . Have I got that right?!??! Are American Insurance companies studily generous or something?!?!? I can barely afford to get insurance on a 1.4 Clio let alone something as superb as a Skyline. What are you getting done on it?

I WISH it was mine. A local dealership owner owns it, his son and I are friends. When the GTR comes back from the shop his father said I can take it for a spin, I'll bring my video camera and digi cam. I hear he just bought like 20 grand worth of parts! thats why it's out till the 25th. I'm going to take it to the local strip on imports VS domestics night :trouble: Anyway it's being done at a private garage here in arizona. It's like all HKS parts, from what I've seen so far all the breathing work (intake, headers, exhaust, ported head) turbos, feul etc. lots of stuff. I'll see if I can convince him to take a trade for my accord  oh well 4 more years till I can afford my own GTR, either the new 2007 or the R34 if i don't like the new one...

Anyway he asked me for a list of stuff to buy and I gave him this:

2 HKS 264 cams with 9 - 9.5mm lift would be good but
at 9.5 you have to relieve the head for lobe clearance
(1 for intake and 1 for exhaust), springs, retainers,
lifters. (All from HKS if they are from different
tuners they don't match the profiling well and could
get valve float or bounce or even worse break the
cam!)
Ported head
HKS cam gears
HKS metal head gasket
HKS forged Pistons and ring set
HKS rods with rod bolts
HKS oil pump
HKS headers
HKS GT-SS Turbocharger Kit (it's a twin turbo kit that
gives you great top end speed with awsome
acceleration)
Apexi or HKS front mount intercooler
Trust or HKS plenum intake manifold
Single throttle body from an Infinity Q45 or other
aftermarket one
6 Sard or HKS injectors 850cc (general rule, injector
size should match desired output)
OS giken type A gear set for the transmission
including syncro kit
Triple plate clutch if over 650hp, If under use a twin
plate.
HKS flywheel
HKS front axels
twin Apexi or HKS high volume fuel pumps with a surge
tank
HKS adjustable fuel pressure regulator
Motec M8 complete engine management ( most expensive
but it’s the best system in the world)
HKS torque split controller
Any intake and exhaust system (HKS recommended)

I'm also gonna take the maybach and 360 spyder for a spin :)

hehehe maybee I'll make a "getaway in arizona" film  or maybee not, but I'll get some kind of burnout and acceleration video for you guys.

You are the don  .
That's quite a large list of things to do.
You are one lucky SOB.

Maybach?!?! As in the house on wheels? You'll be like 1 of 20 ever on teh earth to drive it. You can't exactly take it for a spin can you.
A 360 spider? Now you're just getting cocky :p .
Get lots of photos and vids 👍 :).

Nismo 350Z too :D

the maybach has the same acceleration as a vette (not the Z06 but the regular one) so I'll see if i can find a vette to race with a car that weight 3000 pounds more....if I can peel myself out of the GTR that is :D

Wow, I wish USA could have that kind of service. My best temp. car, as I like to call them, was an Escalade. (I took my Chevy in for a new tranny, because the old one blew) I thought that was pretty neato, driving to Highschool with an Escalade.

Worst loan car experience I know of is a friend, who took his 225bhp Audi TT in because he'd discovered they'd ***ed up the suspension settings. They gave him a Vauxhall Zafira!

I took my V6 Mazda MX-3 to be serviced and got a Hyundai Getz 1.3. That was awful.
