Loans in GT5?

Hey Everyone:

I recently thought about this, after sharing many frustrations as other members where we found the car we are looking for in the UCD but did not have the funds to buy it and to go out and race and when we finally accumulated the necessary funds, only to go back to the UCD and see it gone! So I have been thinking, Should Polyphony implement a sort of banking system in the game where you can basically “borrow the money necessary to purchase that must have car” and each race, a chunk is taken off in order to repay the loan? I honestly think it is a good idea because it will relieve a lot of frustration that I face every time I see that super rare car that I want but don’t have the funds to complete the transaction. Hell, they can even charge interest, making you pay a bit extra for borrowing :P what do you guys think?

Could work I suppose, maybe just making the balance go into negative, stopping you from upgrading cars until the loan has been payed off?

J()$#, that's a brilliant idea. I'd like that! And all your income goes into your debt until it's gone white again. No purchases can be made while red either.

There was a thread exactly the same as this about a week after GT5 came out and I thought it was a good idea then. However, back then when people were starting out money in the game was scarce and the idea was to get a loan to buy a car you need to complete A-Spec events and pay it back bit by bit after every race, not just to buy a rare car. Also we have seasonal events which in total pays out 3.5m cr each week, so now I think it's something that isn't neccessary as it's not relevant to your game progress.

I like the idea and would love to see a central one online. This way as the bank balance grows larger more people can borrow more. but can you imagine how many debts will go unpayed? Player A needs an X2010 but can't win one so when he gets to lvl 40 he borrows 20 million and picks it up. The virtual bank never sees him again and we have an online recession

Haha that made me laugh 👍

But wouldn't be easier to tie it into the game as well so if Player A does accept the 20 million debt, and goes offline, his game will still tax him/take away the x1, even though he is not online? therefore, any player would not be able to cheat the system. Another way that can be solved is through credit rating. In the beginning your allowed to borrow maybe 1 mill max. Then the length that takes you to pay, determines your score and whether or not you can take out more money. The higher the score, the more you can take out. Plus you can increase your score over time allowing you to borrow 20 million every 2 days or so.

it only being a game and all but if there were loans, would u put up collateral should u not pay up n time and or pay interest. The obvious work around is the save game back up but with a twist.... save game, sell anything that can be sold, buy car, gift, reload etc etc...

Buy the car with a loan, send it to an alternative account, problem solved.
With so many loans not getting payed back, the GTBank is going to be bankrupt in a matter of days.

Can you guys imagine the aftermath? The whole GT economy will take a severe hit... The owner of the tunign shop will lose the shop and the guys at GTAuto will probably out of work in no time...

The whole point of the used car dealership is to combine luck with a good sum of money. Just save up for that one day where you know you will need them and check the dealership regularly. So with good timing it should be possible to get it right.

Lol the poor guys a GT Auto won't be able to afford to listen to "the entertainer" anymore *hers terrible bar music in his future* ... I just feel sorry for all the B-spec barbies who will need to find a new job to support b-spec Billy...

Well, actually those Barbies should be used to support Bob, as everything that he earns through racing goes to your bank account, with him seeing not a single penny from it.
