Hello again forum. I would like to ask if this steering wheel is worth the $80 or so it costs. (A good deal of you are from Europe, so I don't know how much Euro that is.)

I would like to ask a few questions individually, if it is convenient could you answer them as such? Thank you.

1. What exactly is "Force Feedback"? I have heard several times that this wheel has force feedback. What does that mean?

2. Is this wheel positioned on your lap? If not, are you sopposed to put a table in from of your PS3?

3. Does this wheel make a whinning noise when turned? Even if not turned so slightly, does it at all? I watched a couple of videos where it does. A little like pulling a seatbelt on a car, does it make that noise to any extremedy?

4. Can you feel bumps, tire slids and etc. like on the DualShock 3? Just wondering, it is a quite explensive wheel we are talking about...

5. What is this wheels overall quality? For near $100, (maybe 150 Euro?) It should be *high* quality for this price. Is it worth the money as far as quality goes?

6. Are the pedals uncomfortable? This placement I have heard is poor and uncomfortable. Is this true?

7. Does this inhance the 'Real Drive' aspect of Gran Turismo? Does this make the game more realistic feeling or easier to play? Or is the regualr DualShock3 good enough?

Your thread has 1 foot in the steering wheels & cockpits forum, but I'll chime in here. I've got the Driving Force GT and used it a little with GT4, and now with GT5P.

0. Wheel is worth the $80 price tag. :)

1. "Force feedback" is what you bring up in #4 - feeling bumps, tire slides, etc. It's more expressive with a wheel though, you feel understeer, oversteer, the resistance on turning the wheel as your front tires fight for grip, etc.

2. They make a lap attachment. They also make stands (more expensive) or you could fab one yourself. If you don't want to purchase or make a special stand, a lot of people use them on a coffee table or TV tray. I've got mine attached to my computer desk.

3. Not much noise from turning it. If there is some you won't notice it while playing, because you feel more immersed in the game.

4. Yes! More so then with the DS3.

5. Very high quality for the price. That said the G25 or G27 is probably better, but those are much costlier. Driving Force GT is the lowest priced entry in the wheel market that I would go for.

6. No. I find them fine in terms of position. They don't have a lot of resistance though when you push down on them, so they lose some realism points there.

7. Yes! Once you race with a wheel you probably won't ever go back to the DS3.
