Hi everyone, this is my first post on here and I appreciate any help I can get.

My question is whether or not I should get the g27 or the Fanatec 911 GT3 RS V2 value pack since both are around the same price. Logitech $230-$260 and the Fanatec pack $260. I've read some reviews about each wheel but would like to get some input on personal experiences. I'm currently leaning towards Fanatec primarily because of the CSR-E pedals and that I think they'll be better than the Logitech pedals and I would like a sequential shifter without having to modify anything.

As of right now I'm 99% certain I'll be subscribing to iRacing and possibly rFactor as well. Any personal experiences with these wheels in either of these sims would be much appreciated. If it matters my only real virtual racing experience is in Forza 3 and 4. Thanks in advance for any help.

You should go with the Fanatec set because of the CRS Elite Pedals, load cell braking is more immersive and more accurate. It will make you more competitive with IRacing.
This is an easy decision, I have had mine for almost a year and I am very please by the performance and the reliability, zero issue.

Thanks for the reply. My biggest hangup with Fanatec right now is that I've read some issues about quality control. If I'm shelling out the money I want something that's going to last me for quite a while and I've read that the g27 is basically built like a tank though it may not be the highest quality stuff. I've also heard Fanatec customer support can be a pain to deal with and takes quite a bit of time to get them to do something if you do have an issue. Any experience with that? I'm trying to gather as much information as I can as I'm looking to order something in the next 24-48 hours.

Fanatec might have had some issue. I had an issue once with the standard pedals of my Carrera wheel, the customer support was fast and efficient and everything got resolved to my satisfaction. I am a satisfied Fanatec user and I am strongly recommending their products for performance and reliability.

You just said you've had zero issues though.. But even still, glad to hear the customer service is good.

As of now, I'm leaning towards getting the 911 GT3. I just want to make sure I'm making the right choice for that kind of money given I am a college student and money is sometimes hard to come by. Since you have Fanatec experience Cote, what is their warranty policy? I haven't been able to find anything on their website about it while I know the Logitech has a 1 year warranty with it.

On a side note KinLM, I see you're in Azle. I've got family down the road in Springtown working in the natural gas industry.

Zero issue with the CSR Elite pedals and the wheel and the shifter, only the standard pedals who were notorious for the brake issue on the original design and replaced by Fanatec.

The warranty on Fanatec is 2 years.

I'm making the same decision right now as well. GT3 RS V2 or G27. I'm primarily a PS3 player though. Right now I'm also leaning towards the GT3 RS wheel, but like you mentioned I'm stumped by Fanatec's customer support reviews.

Never had any problems with fanatecs customer support, every time I've needed them they have been excellent and fast. I heard they used to be bad but they have improved greatly, it seems the old rep is sticking with them ha

Ha, thanks for the quick response. At this point I'm almost 100% certain I'll choose the GT3 RS.

Customer support reviews are stumping me as well but it sounds like the overall experience is better with Fanatec products. The two year warranty for me is a huge plus though. I'm normally a 360 player with forza but I'd like to switch to computer for more realistic sims and I've read the CSR wheel is sketchy on iRacing which is why I'm just gonna go with the gt3. I think I'll be taking the plunge and ordering a gt3 here in the coming moments.

Maybe that's not an issue for you because you're in Europe? While the American have to contact Fanatec's German HQ for support.

Well I went ahead and ordered my GT3 from Fanatec just a bit ago. After reading on here and other forums I decided it would be the best way to go even with possible customer service issues. I've read they've gotten better but we'll see. I appreciate all the input in this thread and will let you guys know how it works out.

Good luck! From what I've read only people in US have been complaining due to different time zones, and long shipping times from Fanatec HQ in Germany.

I probably won't know before Monday but I'm hoping it ships from their Southern California location because that would be great as I'm very impatient right now  but we will have to see.

The order is processed in Germany, then sent to the So. Cal. fulfillment entity.
Fanatec is not open on weekends in Germany. They ship by UPS in USA.

So even if Fanatec should be open this Monday in Germany...
...and UPS picks up for delivery from the So. Cal. location...
...the box will not start its journey to you until Wednesday, UPS does not operate on Jan. 1.

...oh and make sure someone is around to get it when delivered.
The last few items I have received from Fanatec required no delivery confirmation.
UPS just left them at the door, if you live in an honest neighborhood that should be no prob.

I did not even think about that but thanks for that information. I shipped it to my parents house just so if it did have to sit outside it is in a good neighborhood. So everything should be alright. Thanks again!

This used to not be the case, something has changed in the last couple of months.

Would be interested to know if others who have ordered Fanatec stuff in USA have noticed this as well recently.

You did the right thing, it is a great wheel and pedal set.
Let us know how it goes.

I recieved my formula rim today and it also was left at the door. When I ordered the base and BMW rim a month or so ago I had to sign for them. Today they didnt even knock just left it on the porch.

Well mine just shipped out today and is scheduled to arrive on the 9th. You can bet that I'll be sitting around waiting for it whether it needs a signature ready or not. I went ahead and got an iRacing subscription while on sale and I'm dying to get on it right now.

Generally speaking with UPS/FEDex, if the amount of the package is under a certain limit they can leave it at the door without a signature. If it's above that price (not sure what it is) you have to sign for it or they will not leave it.

If you are ever worried about something sitting on your front porch, send it to your work. If you neighbor is trust worthy, you could leave a note on your door for the UPS/FED driver to have your neighbor sign for it. I'd be sure and make sure you neighbor is ok with that.

Also if you live in a town with a UPS shipping center (where all the trucks unload to smaller trucks), they usually have a will-call pick up center. You can ship it there and go pick it up. Where I live, there is a UPS Hub not far, and anything I ship to that address is waiting for me at 9am to pick up. You can save a lot of money if you have to overnight something. UPS has two levels of overnight (by xx time in the morning, and then by the end of the day.) I can pick the 'end of day' price and it will be at the will call for me at 9.

If you do decide to try the will call, I would go visit the UPS first and find out the address and make sure they will accept it.

INCORRECT, the entity that pays for the shipping (Fanatec or their affiliate in this case) designates whether a signature is required.

The value itself does not establish whether or not delivery confirmation signature is required.

Don't take my word for it, use FEDEX or UPS to ship a package somewhere and just check/inquire about delivery confirmation signature options during the process and their additional fees.

Well I finally got my GT3 tonight and have been running some laps at Lime Rock and Okayama on iracing in the mx-5 cup. So far I really like it. The alcantara is incredibly nice, it's smooth though I swear I can hear a belt move every time I turn it, not sure if that's supposed to happen. There's also always a slight vibration as long as the car is moving which doesn't bother me I'm just not sure if it should be doing that as this is my first wheel. My only real issue right now is I want to try the H-gate csr shifter but I can't seem to get it calibrated on iracing. It think reverse and all odd gears are the same button and all the even gears are the same button. Not really sure what to do about that. All in all though, I'm very happy with the purchase and think I'm going to enjoy for quite some time.

Hi There,

How did you connect the CSS? I assume you connect it to the GT3 wheel and GTwheel to the PC. And the pedals directly to the PC with USB?
Had some issues in the beginning. I now first checked all the fanatec gear through the fanatec property page. If this says OK for wheel and pedals I start Iracing. Had to do a calibration once and now it's fine

I've got the shifter connected directly to the wheel as well as the pedals. Everything seems to work great but the H-gate shifter. It wouldn't calibrate when I tried doing that and on the wheel properties page it was showing the same thing as iracing.

The calibration of the shifter is done with the wheel, following the procedure using the little display on the wheel. It only needs to be done ones or until you do a FW change. It is a little tricky the first time, just do it slowly.
