"....If you thought smooth tracking optical sensors were an advancement over mechanical ball-based mice, let us introduce you to the mouse that takes precision and performance to a whole new level: the Logitech® MX™1000 Laser Cordless Mouse, the world's first laser mouse.

Now optical is obsolete. And your computing experience will never be the same.

Featuring the Logitech MX™ Laser Engine, the MX1000 delivers a new pinnacle of performance no optical mouse can match. With an incredible 20x more sensitivity to surface detail—or tracking power—than optical, laser can track reliably even on tricky polished or wood-grain surfaces. And the MX1000 offers even more advanced features that will make you more productive and more comfortable...."

my mx500 combined with my Steelpad 4s mousepad is just perfect, thank you very much.

buuut, if bytesector.com gets a unit to review, we'll most definately look to see if they managed to improve upon their standard mice

I can't even fathom how something can be better than an optical mouse… my MX500 has never given me any problems whatsoever (on the other hand, it was easy for anybody to imagine a mouse that would work better than trackballs, since those always had skipping problems). I wish my MX500 had the side-scrolling feature though. :( (I imagine that in the future, that'll be just as common as optical mice themselves.)

I have an optical wireless mouse, but it drinks batteries like a Mustang V8, so I'm stuck with my wired trackball VAIO mouse. :(

Not much to discuss yet - I'll be picking one up next week and I'll report back...

(Currently using either the MX700 (desktop) or MX900 (laptop))

I saw it a couple weeks, ago. My Logitech Wheel Mouse gives me what I need so
far. I don't need extra buttons or precision. I will probably get one when this
mouse(and my spare) gets worn out or broken.

Also, cordless 👎 , can't be bothered to recharge batteries for a mouse

It uses Lithion-Ion, you stick it in it's cradle for about 10 minutes and it will last the day, the cradle comes free with it.

I think Lithion-Ion batteries are good for about 100 charges or something?

I don't see how it could be that much different from optical mice. I don't think you would notice much of an improvement. Anyway, I would never spen 80 bucks on a mouse, when my plain optical does the job very well.

hehe
ordered my cordless mx700 on saturday and got here on wednesday.
(smashed my dual optical hard while getting pissed and playing cs)
it cost me $53 (shipping and everything else) @ newegg.com -$10 rebate.
so i got away with a $60+ mouse for 43 bucks :dopey: :dopey: :dopey:
