Logitech set up / racing wheel set up

Okay-- I haven't played the Gran Turismo 5 in about two years. I lost all my data at one point and stopped playing. I turned it back on today and just spent the last two stinkin' hours trying to remember how I set up my wheel--- as in how the heck did I used to do it????? I want to set saturation- feedback strength etc in my Logitech Pro force Wheel. This is totally frustrating. I searched everything and tried everything and I can't get it. I will feel stupid when someone (if possible) can tell me where I go or what to do in Gran Turismo 5 to set the wheel up to my specs. I had it down before I lost my data and went all the way in the game. I ended up with the GT F1 car and that's the last thing I remember before the crash. I've played and or owned most of the driving games out there. That's what I do. I drive. I race. I win. Now I just forget. Thanks and I hope someone can help me out. I need to get back on track and beat the machine again. I need my 69 Camaros back. :) ****I will send a jar of my special sauce :"Drive Like A Freakin' Wildman Sauce" to whomever fixes me up.

I want to set force feedback strength etc in my Logitech Pro force Wheel.

I've corrected you there, it's called Force Feedback, and you can adjust it by:

In GTLife (or main menu) go to Options. In GTLife it's the cog button on the far left of your screen, above or below the red circle (save button). Inside the Options menu, scroll down two rows to the wheel setup, click the first section of that row and there you can turn Power Steering on and change the level of Force Feedback, it goes from 1-10 and starts at 5 on default.

Once you've done this, press circle and then move the cursor right a few times until it's highlighted the wheel that you're using (you said Driving Force Pro) press x on that and in there you can reassign the buttons on your wheel to do what you want, change them from default, or find out what each button does etc. if you need to.

If this is the answer to your question, then great, if not I would need more information.

The options before you go into GT Life. You know, where you can pick arcade, etc.

I think this is what the OP may be looking for too. 👍

What i'd like to know is if there's a way i can access the XMB Menu with my G27 wheel, which doesn't have a PS button. I often race online & i can send friend requests by selecting the driver in the room, but i can't reply to any friend requests received until i exit the room. As it stands, the only way i can access the XMB Menu is to turn off the ps3, and then turn it back on again. This is so impractical. There must be a way, surely...

well it has been two years but I can't remember being NOT able to adjust the Wheel weight, Steering deadzone, brake saturation, steering linearity etc etc etc - that's what I'm referring to in my OP. If I'm wrong and one can't adjust the set up like I describe - then there's another thing I may have a prob with. I could swear I could adjust those settings.......... Well I'll hang around a bit and see- maybe you guys mis-understood what I was asking about- or then again maybe not. ***** lainoflo- check out the wrong hyphen I put in misunderstood. Sweet!

You were never able to do this in GT5 with any wheel or controller. I've been actively on GT5 since prologue with a G27 and never had those options. I, and many people here, have sat through each update, nothing!

I use the DS3 controller assigned to "2", wheel to "1"... pressing PS button on DS3 brings up the XMB menu.

Edit: Ok, I see you started a new thread for this query and already received this solution.

 Thanks. I was just about to let you all know that.

You've never been able to adjust settings like that in any GT game. You can set the strength of the force feedback and that's about it.

I think i vaguely recall what the OP is asking about, but i can't remember the specifics. You're right in that it's nothing to do with the GT5 game.

I've had a look through the XMB menu and i haven't found it there either. After digging out the box my G27 arrived in, i found 2 cd drivers. I believe this is what the OP is looking for. Insert the drivers into the PS3 and turn it on. Then follow the prompts from there.

Sounds very much like Codemasters "F1 2010" to me.. I have actually been playing this a lot recently, as a break from GT5.

I was sure those CD's were for PC use only, since driver software is not required/suitable for PS3 use...?

I thought so too and i was scratching my head wondering how i was supposed to set it up. When i rang customer support they told me to use those cd drivers in the PS3 and it worked.

The PS3 needs to install the software for the G27 and it's at this stage that the OP can find the options he's looking for. I just hope he's still got those CDs! If i recall correctly though, it's a lengthy process...So prepare to waste a couple of hours!?

Really? I just plugged my G27 into the PS3 from day one without installing anything and it worked right from the start... :dunce:

I will have to go find these CD's now and see for myself...

Edit:

Just checked the discs that came with my G27

Disc 1 : Logitech Gaming Software (Windows XP/Vista/7)
Disc 2 : R-Factor (PC DVD rom)

Nothing on these discs is suitable for use on PS3... ;)

Okay thanks for the info- I must have been thinking of all the other driving games that are not as good as GT5 that have better set up control. Hmmmm............anyway I'm going to keep at it.

What is a G27?????

Yes it's misleading, but essentially the PS3 is a computer of sorts. And you're lucky. Mine wouldn't work at all. I was stressing that i might have wasted AUD$500!

There's no harm in trying the CDs to find out, assuming you're still searching for an answer... As i said, it worked for me. My PS3 wouldn't accept my wheel before i did that.

Logitech G27 - a high end wheel with Clutch and H-pattern gearbox. Retails for at least £200 in UK (last time I checked).

I thought that's what the OP had! (Oops?!)

The PS3 uses its own drivers for all wheels! They are totally separate.

Most wheels, if not all, work right out of the box. The PS3 does its own calibration!

BTW, you can't access the CDs contents on the PS3! It doesn't support those file types.
