OK Im wondering if I buy that 100$ steering wheel and pedal will it help my times?

Currently I am using the PS1 pad (no sticks/digital buttons) will this wheel help my lap times

You'll probably find you're slower - I run the Logitech wheel and find I'm generally a bit off the pace of the guys in comp here. I think the disadvantage lies in getting the wheel turned from lock to lock quickly (which is a REAL issue in rally).

That said - the game is SO much more realistic with the wheel. Be careful though, there are some well documented quality issues with the wheel - have a search through the forums (use the Search function up the top left) and there is quite a bit of comment on the wheel. I personally have had no problems with the wheel apart from the power dropping out, but now the wheel has its own powerpoint that problem has almost completely disappeared.

I also have the GT3 wheel rather than the GT Force which does seem to have suffered some additional problems. The GT3 wheel is exactly the same as the Logitech PC wheel so you have the added benefit of compatibility with PC racing games as well.

I'll just pick up a $40 steering wheel

I was wondering because most of the top times in the world are done using the steering wheel

I think, the Lab-times are near identic !

The only difference is by using from hard to drive Car's,
without TCS on challenging Raceway's
( Complex String, Midfield ... )

With the Pad, is the performance from the command faster
But with a analog Wheel, You can to drive better controlled / to allot , and the Fun is much better than a pad.

Good Drift's, You can only to realize with a analog Controll

There is a difference between the PS-2 and the PS-1 Pad , in the "Digital" Push-Buttons !
The Push-Buttons from the original PS-2 Pad, are multilevel !!!
If You push it sparse , the Car to accelerate / brake slow.
If You push it powerful , the Car to accelerate / brake strong.

So Long

Hi Werner I've got to say I'm impressed with your attempt at English. But when you say, ,' Lab-times are near identic ', that should say, 'Lap-Times are nearly identical' If there's any words you get stuck with www.freetranslations.com

Or I speak a bit of German so Private Message me any time.
Danke Aufwiedersehen....

And about the wheels, I'd thought of buying one but there not cheap :2cents:. Do people find it's worth the price?

Well, Werner, as neon_duke pointed out it's a heck of a lot better than our German.

I think it's great that you post here - especially those electronic projects of yours - they're fantastic!

Thank's

I am post much moore in English-language Forums, than in German's .

I'm like this Forum, because here is a sane climate !

Here are verry much nations concentrated on one point
and we can talk around the World.

That's nice !

Ich Spreche Deustch. sehr wenig.

I really think it brings another whole dimension to the game - you can almost feel the tyres wear on some the more abrasive circuits.

The force-feedback effect is amongst the best I've come across - the only one that's come close so far is Colin McRae 2.0 for the PC.
