Good evening hive-mind,

I have a Logitech driving force wheel - I think it is the Pro - but whatever, it is the one with the orange dial and GT logo that illuminates...

Anyway, I have just tried to use it with GT5 for the first time and I cannot get it to steer.

I have acceleration and braking and all of the buttons on the steering wheel work except the steering wheel itself.

The GT light flickers a little when I boot the game up, but does not stay lit.

I've been in to options etc, but cannot resolve it.

The wheel is working with other games.

I know it is probably really simple, but it's beaten me.

Can you help me?

Is the wheel plugged in to the first USB socket and the mains? Does it calibrate when GT5 starts? I know you said it works with other games, but that sounds like a power issue.

Thanks Daan, but in between me posting and your answer, I've realised I had a fuse problem in the house.

All sorted.

:)

Cool 👍

Well, not really cool, but at least you got it sorted.

Hi all, ive had this problem with my GT right through prologue and now gt5, just wondering if ive got a faulty wheel. When i start a race, all is well, but as soon as i press the brake and release it, the brake seems to stick, on screen that is; the brake indication bar in the bottom left show that my brake is still on by about a fifth, but my foot is off the pedal. Any help will be much appreciated and thanks in advance.

I thought It sounded like it was not getting power. I had a similar issue with mine one day which turned out to be the cord not making good connection where it goes into the wheel.

On the brake issue. Try lifting up the brake pedal and see if the red bar drops if so then maybe your spring is weak. Also check your connector where it plugs into the wheel. Use your hand to work the brake up and down slowly while in bumper view and watch the brake meter to see if it moves smoothly up and down. If not and the connection is tight then your pedals likely have an enternal issue.

cheers for the fast response , ive just made sure its in really tight, ill report back in a sec.....

ok so ive checked the brake issue. the connection is tight, and if i lift the pedal up after it shows its still being pressed, the bar empties (consequently if i press the brake and then let it snap back into place, the bar is empty). Ive pressed it with my hand and the bar does indeed fill smoothly. What do u make of that??? :/

cheers

You are not by any chance resting your foot just slightly on the brake are you? If so then that would be the problem. These pedals are sensitive and if you so much as touch it it will register a bit and slow you down. If you still see red when your foot is completely off the pedal then either the spring is weak or perhaps you have some dirt or other residue that is making it harder for your pedal to come back to the top. A little WD-40 may do the trick but be careful not to use to much.

Defiantly not resting my foot against it as it did it when i tested it with my hand. Ill take it to bits tomorrow after work and give it a clean and possibly a spray with WD40, but the thing is, is that its not that old and its not bin used that much. P.s when i say that i had the problem with prologue too, i mean that i bought it, i tried it, noticed the fault and then put it away, and repeated the process nearly every week. Effin thing.

cheers buddy

You should have contacted Logitech. Everyone I know that ever had that problem with the brake pedal sticking, was quickly taken care of by them. It was actually a very common problem when the DFGT was first released.

I had a look at mine which works properly and the base of the pedal shaft actually makes contact with the plastic base when it is in full up position. If anything has gotten down in there like a packing peanut or such it may be the source of the problem. I have not looked inside to see how it is hinged so can't be of help there.

I did have a similar problem with my PWTS and had to operate on it yesterday. Turned out one of the pots was not seated properly but that was causing very irratic brake behaviour. Red bar was jumping all over the place when I pressed the brake not going 100% sometimes sticking and such, all better now though.

kl, thanks man, i think, if i take it apart and have a look and a clean and so on, and it still persists the bloody thing can go back to the shop.

thanks again

I've been having a similar problem with my Logitech Wheel. Everything works except for the forcefeedback motor. It doesn't work at all. The wheel doesn't self calibrate when I turn on the system.

I can play with the wheel's power supply plugged into the wall or not, it makes no difference. Has anyone else been having this issue?

Any suggestions?

How old is the wheel, and where did you get it?
