Well to start off, I know a lot of people ask questions relevant to this subject. But I'm not like everyone.

But I'm looking to save up for a wheel. I'm a noob at wheeling but looking to muster up so I can be better GT5 driver.

Which wheel do you recomend for newbs, I do mind pedal shifters, I want to learn how to function it.

I heard about the g25 and g27 but I never seen em before.

The only wheel I've seen in my life was the GT5 wheel at gamestop about 1-2 year ago it was expensive.

Funny question also, if I practice with a wheel will it help if I ever become a race car driver( not nascar, more like formula, imsa, prototype racing)?

I guess it depends in how much you want to spend on a wheel. There's multiple wheels to choose, but the most popular ones' DFGT, G25/27, T500RS and the Fanatec wheels. The DFGT is the cheapest, but a good starter wheel. The G27's (I haven't tried that) better, but the costs higher. The G27 comes with a clutch and shifter. Then there's the T500 which should be one of the best wheels, but the price's very high (I gave €375 for my T500), and it comes without a shifter. The choice's yours. If you're in doubt I'm sure you can find help here. I'm currently in doubt about my T500, but you can read more about that, here, if you like 👍.

80 dollars is my max, I just watched a video about dfgt, I might be willing to pay 130 for it lol. It looks so cool, the best part is real time changing to tcs and abms all that stuff. My max was to spend 80$ for a wheel and 50$ for a headset. I already know what headset I want, but the dfgt might change my plans I don't know yet. My final decision will be in Feb- early March. That's when I'll have all my money.

You cN get a used dfgt for around $60. That's what I'm trying to sell mine for. Just look on eBay I'm sure you'll find one in you price range

If you want you can look into the thrustmaster ferrari wheels that are about $80 and lower but they aren't nowhere near as realistic as its $200 cousins. I have a DFGT and it was well worth the $120.

Thrustmaster Ferrari wheel: 270°

DFGT: 900°

Ranman 20 - buy a DFGT - you won't regret it. It turns GT5 into a whole new game. It will take a while to get used to so consider starting the game again or repeating the license tests etc. After a while you will find you are quicker with a DFGT, but the biggest thing is the improvement in the realism and satisfaction from the game, especially if you switch to cockpit view and turn off the driving aids.

Also, if you have a wheel, friends and family who drive cars, but don't play video games can try the game and enjoy it.

Sounds epic, i'll buy one soon.

Dont buy a used DFGT. They are not reliable enough to make buying one without a warranty make any sense.

Buy a $15 wired headset and spend the extra money on a wheel. Make sure you have something to mount it to.

What do you mean mount it too? Like a small table/stand?

Yes, that's what he means 👍. Since the feedback isn't as "agressive" as the bigger wheels, you can also use an ironing board.

Oh ok. I have a spair iron board in my house.

Yes! G27 is a really good wheel to buy. It's expensive but worth it. Has paddle shifters, H shifter and clutch!

I don't think it will make you a better race car in real life because GT5 is not close to being realistic, it's a different feel but it will help you improve your skills like your reaction...etc

Wow i can become a GT3-spec car now? Forget being a race car driver i want to be the race car:sly:

I agree though, the G27 is probably the best wheel you can buy for the price since this wheel has everything you need and whatever it doesn't have, you can mod.

By the way RanMan, will you mod your future wheels because that can also change your opinion on what you want.

I honestly don't know. Sounds like fun, but if I ever get the chance I might try it one day.

Well if your planning to mod it wait till the warranty due. Check out Chilliloke he has the handbrake mod which is detailed and useful.

This is a very good tip, indeed! I'd say, try before buy, if possible.

Need to revive this. I'm jumpy on this but I can't see me spending over $80 for a wheel. I really want the dfgt but can't deal with spending over $80.

What can I get at $60 and under that's reliable/ and has force feedback.

For a budget of 80$ don't look for any other thing than a DFGT, you can find it used or even brand new if you search a bit.

Amazon has brand new DFGT's marked down to about $100. Don't know about any cheapo wheels with FFB.

Don't forget to check your local craigslists as I went there a lot when looking for my G25 pedals. Granted the few that I found had already sold.

Trust me on this, if you are planning to pay 130 for a good but kind of cheap wheel, save up the extra 100 bucks, and get the G27, its an excelent wheel, it really changes the way you play GT5 for sure. Yea it may be spendy but the price is well worth it

I will look into it but sounds costy.

I'd wait for a DFGT on Craigslist. Realize that many of them have only been used a few times and then put away in the back of someone's closet. They're like new.
