I have PS Plus account and I have 30mbps internet connection. I am not very interested in online racing. If I get GT Sport will I be able to:

Access all or most of the cars without buying them, to race off-line on all the tracks against a field of competent virtual drivers?
Advance through the solo driving tests? I would not care if I have to process the data through online connection.

I just want to have fun racing against other cars (virtual is fine) whenever I feel like it. I don't care about trophies, gold helmets etc.

P.S. I also want to watch and save the Replays!
 
Short answer, yes.

Long answer - define competent virtual drivers...

That said, you do have the option to define the opponent vehicle classes as well as their driving abilities.
 
You'll have to buy some cars most likely but if you are patient and work through your "campaign" you'll end up getting a good number of cars gifted. Plus, as long as you drive 26.2 miles every day you get another free car. It's all random and you can end up with duplicates but you don't need to spend anything to get a good collection going.

For tracks you'll need to "unlock" some for use in arcade mode as you level up, but it goes pretty quick. I suggest doing the circuit experience as your first to-do and you'll pretty much have gotten past level 15 by time you get gold on everything. The rest of the campaign is less XP for the most part but better for filling up your garage.

Everything else is fine. The online save is annoying in some cases if they drop for maintenance unexpectedly but otherwise is easy to deal with.

Yes. Your ability to save replays in GTS is not limited in number like it is in Forza and PCars 2.

Also, GTS replays are unique in that each section of the track is covered by many cameras, which provides a freshness to replays, avoiding the predictable nature of replays in other games

Finally, the placement of replay cameras is very credible and provides exciting views, and encourages photography
 
The AI is rather poor in this game. But then again I don't know your standards.

But if you're just looking for some quick offline thrills then there's surely a lot better options out there. Project Cars 2 for instance.
 
If you want a challenge Vs. the A.I. then head on over to the mission challenges... Work your way through the ridiculously easy tests all the way to level 8 then reach 8-6... Don't throw your controller through the TV and after many many tries you may just gold it... Then try 8-7 and try and try and try... You may need to buy a new TV and controller by this point.
Were it not for the fact two of my friends have golded it I'd say it's impossible! Akin to the redbull challenge from GT5 IMO, be thankful you don't know it :)
