Longer tracks are better..?

Just thinking loud for a while, and this is the place to do it.. :D I find myself in love with nordschleife, and wondered if there will be more tracks like that, although a little shorter, like le mans and spa..? The short ones do tend to be boring after a while.. Many laps are quite ok, but they are simply boring if it is the same turns over and over.. I know le mans have been mentioned before, will we be able to race on many tracks like them..? Sure, Grand Valley took a good 1.45 per lap in the castrol supra, and I would be pretty happy if there were more like these.. :D

As you guys understand, although I probably wondered through a lot of topics starting this thread, I would love if they put longer tracks in this time.. Do you guys feel the same..?

Just got the prologue today and I'm physically sick, longing for the full package coming.. Hopefully before Xmas.. :mad:
 
if they do, i pray they make you do fewer laps. i never want to do 20 laps of test course again, or even 10!. I hope that for each series, there is a miles traveled limit, like each race is approximately 20 miles or something. That way, a 1 mile couse would have 20 laps, a 2 mile course would have 10 laps and a 10 mile course (like nurbuirgring?) would only be 2 laps.
 
^^^ I like that idea... hopefully they'll have a good mix of short and long races and series for that matter.
 
Too short track or too long track would suck. Between short and long should they be:tup:
 
:crazy: that's just sick, man.. long, hard...? well, have to admit I like them that way as well, the tracks I mean... Can't make the discussion drift out too much.. :D I hope they will put in some long tracks, then drive them for some laps, you will then be able to see the best driver and not see the luckiest one as the winner.. Sure, need to limit the laps on Nordschleife, but 3 laps there is okey...:p
 
Some of you really are sick out there aren't you :lol: I hope for somewhere in between too. A track which is too long will really tire if you have to race it at the start of the game with a pathetically slow car, or in a Vitz/Yaris series or something like that. All i can is that with a proposewd 100 ( or is it a mere 50? :p) tracks were sure to get a good combination of the short and long in there. Hopefully the longer ones will have good scenery in them unlike complex string in GT3.
 
I believe that unlike long and boring tracks such as Test Course, driving low powered cars on long and twisty tracks such as the Nordschleife will be very entertaining indeed. I´d love a Lupo Cup car race on the Nürburgring.
 
A good mix of short, medium, long and a few extra long tracks is needed to keep a good balance.

me too...!!!:lol: that would be just awesome...!! 3 laps there... twisty tracks and low-powered cars are among my favourites.. just like short and narrow and twisty doesn't fit the fast ones... think we will do a race martinmaxx...!

Nürburgring will be a very special place in GT4 for all of us. We will have the opportunity to test stock cars against each other. Maybe we will have the chance to find out if the BMW M3 CSL on Michelin´s Pilot Cup rubber is actually quicker than an NSX-R around the Ring.
 
Longer tracks?

I think it depends on which car you should be using.
 
I've been a fan of the longer the better, more chance to make a mistake, more chance to regain time.

I agree that some races need to be limited. I think that in championships where you have like, 20 laps standard for each race, distance should be a consideration. Having a minimum length limits like 100k would be better than 20 laps on every circuit. However I think having a minimum of 5 laps on tracks in the later events is necessary. Really, if you think of 10 laps at the Nordschleife, that'll be over an hour, just for 10 laps. They'll have to take such factors into consideration.

I liked Tokyo R246 because even though it's a high-speed track, it's a little too long even you look at lap times. But here I go.

One thing you have to realize about long tracks is that it takes only a few mistakes to ruin your lap. You have to do so well in other turns and sections before moving up to the more challenging sections, considering the track doesn't have its toughest turns at the beginning. So even though I love Le Mans (it's coming up June 12th, by the way), I still remember playing "Le Mans 24 Hours." You have to do so well at every part. I've seen myself screw up a lot at Terte Rouge (the somewhat sharp turn leading to the Mulsanne straight. Then, I've also screwed up at Arnage (the sharp turn after Indianapolis). So my point is, longer courses are good because you can continously drive at high speeds almost all the time, but at the expense of mastering the other corners. Even if GT4 had Hockenheim, I'd still do pretty bad with the three tight sections of the track. I don't know how the circuit has evolved, but from what I recall, the course basically looks like a knife.
 
Hockenheim used to resemble a knife I guess, however, the long, fast stretch out in the forest has since been cut and the circuit is now a more boring and bastardised version than ever before. For more info: http://www.formula1.com/race/circuitmap/725.html

A lot of people have raised the satisfaction that comes from accomplishing various feats within the game, well, completing a lap of the Nordschleife where you know you actually nailed every single one of the 170+ turns would be something special.
 
i hate to disappoint you but actually the nordschleife has only 73 turns consisting of 33 lefts + 40 rights over a distance of 20,8 km...

You know Eagle, I figured the track "evolved." So the Hockenheim we know and love is now basically something boring? Wow. Maybe we should give the old course a eulogy. Can I get a witness?

Some things along teh lines of Autumn ring mini wouldn't be bad, and a track or two the legth of complex string wouldn't be bad either. But I would prefer alot of medium length tracks with their own character with the odd long/short one thrown in.
Also I think they should abolish any idea of races that involve 20 laps around boring tracks *cough* test track *cough*

Hockenheim was never that interesting, and not that Nurburgring was any better this year but most people still believe it deserved to be the home of F1 in Germany more than Hockenheim. It's not as unsafe now :p

What other great, long tracks of the world are there?
