I'm looking for a new clamshell style phone to replace my Razr V3, but I'm having a lot of trouble finding any decent ones. Of the few that actually look pretty cool, there's very little information about them and I can't even find where to buy them or check prices.

I found this one Razr called the V13, but it seems it was only sold in South Korea..? I thought that was pretty bizarre, especially considering every image I see of it shows English text. Can't find it anywhere for sale, though. That's my first choice, but I actually wouldn't mind just buying another V3 Razr.

Anyway, since I know almost nothing about cell phones, I thought I'd ask if anyone here knows of good clamshell phones... or how I can get my hands on that supposedly South Korean exclusive Razr. Thanks for any help!

You aren't gonna find many good clamshell phones nowadays. The last Motorola RAZR series that is a clamshell design looks to be the RAZR2 V9X. No idea on how good it really is, but if you're happy with a clamshell and want the best performance, I'd imagine that'd be the best bet.

Yeah why is that, anyway? All of a sudden it's all about smartphones. That Razr2 V9X looks pretty sweet, though. I'll have to read up on it. Too bad it's over $200... is that a common price for phones these days? I only paid $5 for my first Razr.

Yeah, the majority of people in the market for a new phone want to play with apps and things which require touchscreens. If you're on a budget, the V3X is a great phone, even today. With software modifications, it's probably the most usable phone I've ever owned. Even though I have an Xperia now, I still use the V3X when I'm going out and don't want the Xperia to get damaged.

Cool, that really helps narrow the search down. I'll do my research on those, but thanks for the suggestions. One last question: does it matter if I buy a used or refurbished phone? They're so much cheaper, but I don't wanna pay less if it means getting a scratched up phone or having it break years earlier.

It doesn't matter really. Clamshell Motorola's are pretty tough, I've never had an issue with them. If something does come up though, it'd probably be very cheap to replace.

Well the phone that is the best but still had the clamshell design is this phone. Not bad to say but still behind on the times compared to Android 4.0. But if you are looking for the regular clamshell design and do not want android then this phone seems good. I don't know how many are still on the market but it sure is a dying breed of a phone.

Flip phones and clam shells still are attractive to me. I wouldnt mind my old razr back, but with an updated LCD and firmware. lol

Yeah I just don't understand why the bar style of phones took over all of a sudden. I've never had wear and tear problems with the hinge part of my Razr and I've had it for six years now. Not to mention all the times I've dropped it. What finally took it out was a puddle of water... what a shame. This looks like where clamshell phones were heading:

but apparently that style only interests me and the South Korean market.

Well I've decided to go with the Razr2. However, I'm not sure which model would be best for me or if I'd be able to use one at all.

First off, I'm with Verizon and I'm not about to change providers or contracts anytime soon. The V9 and V9x were exclusively sold through AT&T, so would I not be able to use one with Verizon? On the other hand, the V9m was released through Verizon, but I can only find a couple for sale and they're even more expensive than the V9 and V9x. Every listing specifies the provider, and seeing any for Verizon is rare if not nonexistent. I just wanna know whether this is an issue before I continue searching.

Also, which of the three are best? Are there any noticeable differences between the V9m and V9? It looks like the V9x just supports some AT&T GPS system, but is there any big benefit?

I know I'm asking a lot, but I just don't know where else to go. If nothing else, I'd appreciate at least getting directed to a good site or help forum for cell phone issues. Either way, thanks for any help.

V9 has double the processor speed of the V9m, a higher mobile data transfer speed, and it supports up to a 32GB microSD card vs. a maximum of 2GB for the V9m. The only difference as far as I can see between the V9x and the V9 is the GPS system thing.

Does any of that really matter, though? All I'll be using it for is talking, texting, and taking pictures/videos. And isn't it an issue that the V9 was only released through AT&T? Everywhere I read, it says you can't use Verizon phones with AT&T and vice versa (although these posts almost always regard the iphone).

I had a LG VX8350. Thing was a beast till the dog ate the charger. Loud speaker, fast processing, video recording etc and it was bullit proof.
