Well, the Toshiba officially kicked the bucket, (finally), so my dad and I are looking to buy a new laptop. Now, it would have to be fast enough to run MathCAD, Microsoft Office, and ProE for my dad, and iTunes for me since I'll need to connect my iPod to it too. It would have run on Windows. Although I would gladly take a Mac, MathCAD and ProE aren't compatible with Macs. (As far as I know) It would be lugged around a lot, so lightweight would be a welcome bonus, though not absolutely necessary. Lastly, the screen needs to be at least 15.4", and the total price less than $1500 if possible. Any suggestions?

No....No more Toshibas.... :nervous:

Right now, I'm leaning more towards Sony or Dell. They perform well for their cost, and no overheating issues as far as I know.

Well, no matter, go for Intel processors. They are rocking the mobility market right now. 512MB is a usual standard for laptops, and 1 GB is exceptional. The 'Shiba I listed did have some nice components though...

Make sure you don't get a really powerful laptop either otherwise it will lose its practicality through weight and a really low battery life. :)

Get a dual-core centrino so you can have double the suck.
