Right, I've got a GeForce 8600GT and an old Sharp 15" 1280x1024 monitor. It's about 6 years old and hasn't been kept in the best condition to be honest with you! It's quite outdated now as pretty much all games are produced in a 16:9 contrast.

Ideally, I'd like something around 1900x1200.

Any recommendations on a monitor with those specs or just other general specs for a PC monitor? Not bought a PC monitor in ages, and I might be a bit behind the ball game!

Price range? Lowest possible?

Size? Big is better and biggest is best?

Also, remember to not rule out TV's, too, as most (if not all) have HDMI and/or DVI inputs.

Yes! Well, price depends on what is on offer! :D

I'd say a limit of £200, Size? 19" I'd like. Again, I don't really know the market of it...

23" Acer - £123.00

32" LG - £398.00

52" Sharp - £2,150.00

And they all come with free shipping! :dopey:

Unless I missed a page somewhere, 19" monitors look to be either 1280x1024 (4:3) or 1440x900 (16:10)...

Bear in mind that your graphics card may not cope with games at a higher resolution.

The LG monitor I could use on my PC has a resolution of 1920x1080, but my PC's graphics card can't supply a decent frame rate playing GTR2 at that resolution, so I just use one of my Samsung 1440x900 monitors.

It supports 2560x1600. What's your card? Obviously i don't want to spend money on a monitor that won't do the business.

Should point out, that this is now with a HD 4870! :D Going to see if I can find anything on eBay/Friday-ad, etc.

Hey Nigel, good luck on picking out your new monitor. If you haven't bought one already, I may have found one that might interest you.

I don't know if you would want a 23" or not, but this one is full HD and only $179 U.S. I don't know what the shipping would cost you, but I checked what it would cost me, and for UPS 3 day guaranteed delivery, it was only $8.99 :) So, well under $200 for a 23" full HD monitor with HDMI cable included = WIN

I'm not sure what you could get it for in Pounds or Euros, or if Newegg even ships to Europe, but if I was going to buy a new monitor, I would probably go with this one.

EDIT: If your new graphics card has an HDMI output, you could run it to the monitor and not have
to hook up a separate audio cable, as the HDMI should carry the audio...I think
I know just enough about computers to be dangerous :dopey: and not much more.

It's a 4870, so has a HDMI output. Sound is currently through a USB Hub, and will continue to be, as I couldn't get past IRQ conflicts on the mobo with it.

Newegg don't deliver to the UK, but I do like and rate Acer products. So thanks for mentioning them.

Got a 22" Samsung P2250 in the end.
