Hey everyone...

As the title of the post says, I'm looking for a new muffler. The baffles inside my stock one are starting to go and it sounds awful and is just downright annoying. I get a horrid vibrating noise at certain RPMs and I just need to replace the muffler. Don't have the cash to do a whole new exhaust system.

I'd like to put some type of performance muffler on, but I don't want it to sound "ricey"... I've done some research on different options, but whenever I look up videos of the sounds they all sound ricey and dumb.

So, I was thinking this would be a good place to get some good opinions... any input would be great.

thanks

I'm kind of in this situation myself. The previous owner of my MR2 cut the cat off (probably clogged at that point), so its a little louder and sounds pretty bad really. I'll be getting just a muffler for it at some point.

My Civic has a Vibrant Streetpower 2.5" exhaust. You can get the muffler by itself. Maybe that would sound good? (skip to 1:30)

Flowmaster...seriously.

A long time ago I worked with someone who had a Civic who had his muffler literally rot off. Instead of going with a complete blingy stainless system or having an OEM equivalent, he had an exhaust shop install an OTC Flowmaster chambered muffler. I forget how much he paid for it, but it was less than a pizza and a case of beer.

And wouldn't you know it; it sounded pretty damn good. Not buzzy or ricey at all. And unlike most V8's with Flowmasters, it didn't drone when on the highway.

Something to think about.
