Hello All,
First off I'd like to say, I'm not sure this is the right sub-forum, but I'll ask here anyhow since this is a question. Mods, if this doesn't fit here, please move it to the correct sub-forum.
I have been playing in a very casual racing league with about 7-10 other dedicated weekly racers for almost a year now. Over the entire time of the league though, more than 100 different racers came and went. However recently, the league host decided he was done with GT5 and decided to stop hosting the league, much to the dismay of all of us dedicated weekly racers. I do understand he was taking on a lot of extra responsibility, but we all enjoyed it very much. Over the year he did host the 'GT League' as we all called it, it was an enormous amount of fun, and I actually looked forward to race day.
I did look at GT WRS here, however, it seems much too restrictive and complicated. I also tried to look at the clubs and leagues sub-forum, however I did not find one which seemed to meet what I, and my fellow former 'GT League' racers are searching for. What exactly I am looking for is a league which is similar to what we had, let me explain that a little.
We all respect one another on the track, but all still like to win. We raced on sunday mornings around 11ET, but when NFL started up, we moved to saturday mornings at the same time. We would run 8 races a week, usually on one track all day. Each race would be a different PP or class. Sometimes we would run streetcars, sometimes racecars, but only one per weekend. Streetcars were defined as cars with no front adjustable downforce, and no numbers on the side. PP ranges were 475 to 650pp for streetcars, or 525 to 700 for racecars, in 25pp increments. Unless we were running a special week like shuffle race, Formula GT, or a certain drivetrain type ( ie FF week we ran PPs 400 to 540 in 20 pp increments). In the case of special weeks like GT300, GT500, or Formula GT, we would run 8 different tracks, instead of just the one. Another rule was a different car ( name of car is different, ie Ford GT 05, Ford GT 06) had to used by each participant for each PP class, in order to prevent someone using the same car all day, just adjusting the power limiter. However this rule was waived on days like GT300, GT500, and Formula GT as most people might not own 8 different versions of these cars. We would run RS tires, all driving aids available if you chose to use them, except for ASM. Tire wear and fuel consumption were on. Reversed starting order would be run on the second through eighth races. Usually we would run 5 or so laps, track dependent. Most races would stay under or around 10 minutes in total length. No short cutting was allowed off track. However, any paved area was considered legal, just no passing in the grass or dirt.
The league host also had his wife involved, which I am sure helped spread the work load. They would take a digital pic of the race results after each race. First place would score 25 points, second 20, third 15, fourth would get 12, then fifth through sixteenth would drop one point off for each place behind fourth ( ie 5th=11points and 16th=1 point). We would race 6 weeks, then crown a new champion, then start over. He would also send out items for everyone that participated in that 6 week season. The better your finish, the better your prizes. I would normally finish between 3rd and 5th, and my prizes would be usually one car ticket, several helmets and suits, and a few gold and chrome paint chips.
With all that said, I am looking for something similar. I could do without the prizes, as I'm sure the other dedicated weekly racers could also. If you run, or know of anyone running an even remotely similar weekly league, please let me know here or send me a in game message to my PSN ID - Bludragon76
Thank you for your time and any assistance you could provide.
