Howdy all,

I saw that Farcry got a really good review from a few different sources. Anyone get some time with this game?

I saw it on a co-worker's desk today, but didn't bother to ask him how it was - he seems kinda stuck up to me. ;)

I didn't get to spend much time with it, but the time I did spend rocked my socks. 👍

Your avatar is still disturbing to me, even after all this time. (****-faces, not yours Pako)

It's a fantastic game but it does eat up your system resources.

Is not my avatar mesmarizing to you Rumple? :)

I've got a 2400xp+ with a gig of RAM and a 9700 Pro, is that good enough?

How are the shadows? I'm running a 9800 Pro and I think that the ATI drivers might be the culprit causing polygon type shadows... Other than that, it's a beauity of graphical eye candy. I look forward to trying the full game as well as other games with this engine..

My local Fry's put them on sale this week for $30 so I picked up a copy.

It auto detected my settings and even with my system, it put everything to medium. There's still high and ultra-high past that.

I haven't really gotten into it because I'm still playing through XIII (I just bought from the clearance section of a nearby Target).

Great graphics, excellent A.I.,HUGE maps.Top sum it up,it's awesome. But if u plan on getting this game make sure your PC is up to it cause i get around 50 FPS and i have an Alienware Aurora PC.

I'm hooked too at Pako's suggestion. The maps are absolutely huge though... thankfully I have a gig of Ram. :) It sure does use up resources though. Looks like it's time to get a new processor along with my new video card....

I haven't seen or experienced any instability with the official release. The demo was rather buggy though.

If you haven't got it yet, GET THIS GAME! Not to sound pushy or anything, but this game is like no other in graphics and in physics.

Do you think a P3.2c-ghz, 512ram and an ATI® Radeon™ 9600XT 128Mb DDR will run farcry well? That might be the system I'm getting soon. I know its probably not enough ram but I'll surely upgrade that soon after.

It will run it for sure! Just not at FULL HIGH quality. I am running a P4 3.2 HT, 2gb of dual channel ram, and a ATI 9800 Pro and I can run it at 1024x768 will full everything except the textures are set to medium. I know some that are running it at 800x600 with much lower specs with out problems, just lower rendering quality.

Far Cry demands really high system spec. It's one of the the most beautiful game to look at, no doubt there.

My system spec is
Pentium4 3.4 GHz
1GB Mushkin PC3200 2-2-2 Special (BH6) dual channel
ATi Radeon 9800XT

Far Cry puts the 9800XT to it's knees. Running everything on very high and water on ultra high, 1280x1024, 2xaa 2xaf, and at the level with the volcano in the background it's struggling.

Next generation ATi, and nVidia graphic cards are due out this month. R420, and NV40. I can't wait to try those 16 pipeline monsters on Far Cry.
16 pipelines baby! 8000 Mega Pixels, 1 Billion Triangles.

 How would this run Far Cry?

3.0GHz (800fsb)
1GB PC3200
ATi Radeon 9800 Pro (128)

Pretty close to my specs... Should run just fine. I have a little faster cpu, a little faster ram (DDR400 c2.0 dual channel) and the same video card.

I've played it briefly at my friends house. It looks ****ing incredible. The AI seemed kinda stupid though cos you can usually take them out from long range before they even see you. Id suggest playing it on hard for that reason though.

<Edit> I have a 9600XT 1GB DDR-3500 in dual channel and an Ahtlon 2500+ (Barton) running at 2.3 ghz with the help of a whole bunch of fans.

Hi,

I have a athlon 2400+ mhz

256 ram (damm my mom couldn't get more!)

140 gig on space

should I get more ram memory?

and well I don't know what video card I have the technician said it was integrated in the Main Card (carte mère ?!?)

Not quite sure if there were any other questions other than if you should get more ram. With onboard video built into the motherboard, I doubt adding more ram would do any good. You would see your greatest gains in performance by adding a AGP Video card assuming that your motherboard has a AGP slot in it. Even if it doesn't, a PCI video card would be a second alternative.

You'll absolutely need 512 to run this game but as he said it doesn't look good with integrated video. Click on the properties of "My Computer" and look in the hardware/device manager for what is under display adapters. Post back with what it tells you is in there and we'll make a more informed opinion.

Man,this game is a system hog.I'm running it with the following specs:
-AMD Athlon 64 FX-51(3600 Mhz,1600 FSB max.)
-2 GB Corsair XMS DDR SDRAM PC-3200 Registered ECC
-GeForce FX 5950 Ultra 256MB 8x AGP

and all i get is 55 fps.Wit any other game i get over 80 fps.But it does look awesome.
